Lancemore Mansion Hotel Werribee Park

This property was absolutely breathtaking. Interesting, quintessential Australia. Everything you could want from a visit to Australia all in one place. Staff are great, food is good, the scenery is phenomenal, and the nearby open range zoo is a can’t mess experience.

Having stayed at a variety of luxury hotels both in Australia and internationally, we had high expectations for Lancemore Werribee, especially given its 5-star rating and marketing as “one of the grandest hotels in Australia.” Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of these promises, leaving us disappointed and regretting our choice. The Superior room, advertised as having a King-sized bed, was actually two smaller beds pushed together, making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. Worse, they weren’t even color-matched, which gave the room a disjointed appearance. The bed linen was stained and too small to properly cover the mattress—completely unacceptable for a luxury hotel. Our window overlooked maintenance buildings, which made for an uninspiring and unromantic view, particularly as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day. The bathroom design was one of the worst aspects. The sink was a basic metal basin, reminiscent of those found in public park toilets—completely out of place in a hotel claiming to be luxurious. The toilet seat was worn, and the advertised “modern” bath was patched up in places. The shower was positioned so awkwardly that it was barely usable. The building had visible spider webs in prominent areas, which detracted from any sense of elegance or care in maintenance. While design is subjective, we found the renovations to lack both style and sophistication, making the hotel feel anything but grand or luxurious. We also booked a Hamam and massages at the hotel’s spa, expecting a premium experience. Instead, we encountered: The hot steam jets burned my legs, causing significant discomfort. The drinking water had a foul taste, and there was no bottled water available until we specifically asked for it. At the price charged, we should not have had to search through drawers ourselves for single-use underwear or towels. The stay did not align with the 5-star luxury experience promised, and we left feeling misled and disappointed. Significant improvements in both service and facilities are needed before we could consider recommending this hotel to others.

Very disappointed with the size of room not what I’d expect for the money

Overnight stay for a family birthday. Checkin was easy and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant meal was excellent and with free access to the Mansion next door outlining the history of the area and proximity to the open range zoo, it is well worth a visit.

Only stayed the one night but will be back again for sure. Check in was a breeze with super friendly and informative staff. Our room was an easy walk from reception which was clean and tidy on arrival. The heated pool and spa area was on point. A stroll through the well kept gardens is a great way to sober up from the shadowfa winery that’s a short walk from the mansion. We had dinner and buffet breakfast here also which we could not fault, every dish was delicious. Will be back in August for a wedding and can not wait.

From the moment we arrived, our experience at Werribee Mansion was truly unforgettable. The check-in process was seamless and informative, setting the tone for our stay. Our room was spacious, featuring a massive and incredibly comfortable bed that made it hard to leave! Dinner at Joseph’s was a highlight – the service was impeccable, and dining while overlooking the stunning gardens added a magical touch to the evening (the rose Pafait and passionfruit Martini was amazing!) . The team at Werribee Mansion were friendly, courteous, and eager to assist, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. This hotel is a unique and special destination, blending history, charm, and exceptional hospitality. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

The environment of the hotel within the magnificent mansion grounds and park is very impressive. Our upgraded room (from superior to junior suite) was excellent, and the cakes for my wife’s birthday were both appreciated and scoffed. Two minor room criticisms were that there was only one plug for both bath and basin, so whilst running the huge bath tub, I had to shave using environmentally unfriendly running water, and the bedside tables were dusty. The king bed was super comfy, and we enjoyed our dinner and buffet breakfast. One tip for dinner is on ordering to request say a 10 minute delay between starters and mains, as we had been warned by friends that the mains delivery is otherwise rapid fire. The mains then arrived after 5 minutes and so we sent them back, as we prefer a more leisurely pace. When they returned, we were pleased that they were not overcooked as a result. Recommended overall.

Wanted rest and peace, left the hotel with more stress and anxiety: this hotel had no hot water and I followed up 6 times without any call backs/solutions. The pool was out of order, the rooms are not soundproof so it was very noisy at night and we could not sleep! Reception showed zero care whatsoever despite the unpleasant experience - this was unacceptable!

We’ve stayed before and this time was just as good. Gorgeous property and Hotel. Will be back!!
