"Disappointed staty at hotel but staff very kind "

4.0

Disappointing Stay Despite Friendly Staff We were quite disappointed with our stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, we were placed in a dingy room tucked behind the main block, with no natural sunlight and a persistent damp smell. The bathroom lacked any form of extractor fan, which only made things worse. We raised this with reception and were told they would try to move us to a different room as we had booked for ten nights , but unfortunately, that never happened. No communication either to see how we was getting on. The pool area often felt neglected—on several occasions it was visibly dirty . There were times not all , we found ourselves clearing away empty glasses and litter left from the previous day just to have a decent spot to relax. Somedays the life guards would let us use inflatables and some days not so it was hard to know what the rules were, we had a very upset child when we went to use he's inflatable and was told it was not allowed after we spent money on them. Breakfast was very average. The options were repetitive and rarely refreshed quickly once items ran out, which made the experience feel a bit chaotic and underwhelming. The redeeming quality of the hotel was the majority of the staff, who were very pleasant and genuinely tried to engage with the children and make them feel welcome. It's a shame that their efforts weren’t matched by better management and upkeep of the facilities. Overall, we left feeling let down and unlikely to return unless there are serious improvements.

"A wonderful holiday at this wonderful apartment complex!"

10.0

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at these lovely apartments. We were pleasantly surprised at the recent refurbishment, as at the time of booking the holiday company photos had not been updated. We stayed B&B and the choice available for breakfast was of a very good standard for a 3 star. The apartment was of a great size and that and the complex itself was spotlessly clean. The only thing I would recommend is that the mirror/vanity area would have been better in the bedroom rather than the living area. The staff were so friendly, a credit to Sol Cala D’Or. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much 😄

"Good in some areas, less so in others"

6.0

Good points - Location is great for both beaches (Cala Gran & Esmerelda) and also for main centre area with restaurants - Pool area is nice and well kept up - Bar at pool is reasonable value and good quality Not so good - We were allocated a room looking onto road with no pool view. I think these rooms should be marketed differently to others as it’s very different looking at and hearing the road with no sun on balcony compared to a nice sunny pool view. - in addition to road noise the apartments were quite noisy at times up to 3am. No control over guests returning and many nights people were in pool near midnight (not many but some) - Sun-bed situation was getting harder but the day. Poolside beds gone by 8am and all beds by 9am. Lifeguard some days removed a small number of towels but only saw this a few days. Overall okay and location great but if you get a road view it will be less enjoyable.

"Superb budget hotel in outstanding location"

10.0

Absolutely superb budget hotel, impeccably clean, good food at very reasonable prices. The location couldn't be better, 2 minutes from Cala Gran, 2 minutes from the centre where there are many bustling bars and restaurants. The rooms were spacious and clean, beds comfy we were there 7 days (literally just walked through the front door), and they were cleaned every other day. We were in room 234 which is in a quieter part of the hotel in a little block of 4 above the restaurant. My eldest and my sister were in 208 up the other end of the hotel which was nice, but much preferred the location of our room. There is no entertainment programme but this suited us, but there is such a variety of evening entertainment off hotel it's not required, from superb restaurants to upbeat bars and karaoke. There are also 2 venues nearby, Tropical Gardens and Eden which offer hotel style cheesy entertainment which anybody can use free of charge. The best beach imo is Cala Gran which is the nearest too, but some many other coves all within walking distance, also a lovely marina 15 minutes or so walk with some very nice restaurants there, including a vegan one which was good for my eldest as the one thing that was a challenge was finding some decent vegan food, plenty of superb options for her meat eating dad though 😀. We would 100% come back.

"Nice hotel. Ideal location"

8.0

Arrived check in and reception was superb, guy really helpful and friendly, got to the room ground floor one bed apartment, slightly underwhelmed, hardly closet space, thank god I brought my own hangers… Room really clean upon arrival small terrace along the front facing the street (hedge for privacy) ,back way facing the pool both areas shaded nowhere to give towels are decent airing to dry. Also the gate on the front bangs when closes, people need to have the common sense to hold it till it closes rather then just slam it shut and it clatters.. hotel maintenance could maybe put a slow close gate up. Pool area spotless the maintenance guys who come round each morning and clean the pool are amazing, and very very thorough,as are the grounds man who sweeps and mops the floor, there are some trees along the pool side outside the apartments and the one near us shed its leaves and birds was in it so bird poop at times on the floor and beds,I asked the lady who cleans the pool handles to clean the beds which she did as they was covered in bird poo.. house keeping, not the best in terms of how many visits, they come every 2 days and bed changed every 4 ours however didn’t turn up,we checked in the the Sunday and they came the Tuesday at 4pm (tad late in the day) then come Friday evening I had to go to reception on the way out for tea and explain housekeeping hadn’t turned up so they offered us toilet roll and clean towels,i said I may as well wait now until tomorrow, well by midday on the Saturday they still hadn’t been and you could see two walking around the complex cleaning other rooms so I phoned reception who said they would speak to the house keeper, anyhow another phone call and a visit to reception someone came about 4Pm,he did a fantastic job and yeahhhh we had clean bedding.. of which I did think my bedding felt damp in the week and I did think it might be coz of towels on the bed after showering etc,but I got speaking to a lady in the pool and she just happened to say she thought her room felt damp including the bedding… so it might be the air con as it’s very very good.. sunbeds… no sunbed wars in early July which is fab ,yeah the odd few yet reserved but hey no it happens, the lifeguard however is very good,if he clocks clocks empty sunbeds and their empty for 1 hour he will remove the towels and leave a note,I saw this happen when a group of 6 people when walkies and came back about 2 hours later and they looked shocked when a group of friends where on the beds.. poolside snack bar could do with opening an hour earlier, they don’t serve food till 12.30 and if your someone who doesn’t do breakfast it’s a long time to wait till 12.30 to eat.. highly recommend the poolside pizza very nice.. overall I would stay at this hotel but only for 3-4 nights.. staff are amazing and pool area is nice and it’s in a fantastic location.

"Nice stay"

8.0

Very clean hotel with a nice pool and good sized rooms. No frills but great as a base. We had the studio apartment which was not very accessible so something to bear in mind as there were a set of stairs in the apartment but was fine for us. Found parking very easily around the hotel on side streets which was a bonus. Beach is a very close walk and some great restaurants close by in the centre

"Loses a star for poor accessibility "

8.0

Our first stay in the Sol Cala D'or Apartments and were pleasantly surprised at how friendly all the staff were and how very clean the whole hotel is kept. Our room 202 was on the first floor and very close to the lift, which was fine. I have mobility issues and had requested, on booking, a ground floor room but was told on checking in that none were available, but not too much of a hassle to get in the lift to our room. was a bit of a pain however if you needed the toilet whilst at the pool as the only toilets were up a flight of stairs in the poolside bar, so I had to go through reception (sometimes dripping wet!) to use the facilities on the first floor or go to our room, which really should be addressed as if unable to have a ground floor room this is the only option. That said we were on the verge of rebooking for next year when after going to the poolside bar for lunch one day we found on our return about 80 minutes later that our towels had been removed by the life guard. He told us we had been gone for more than an hour and that was the rule, but seeing as the cook on duty that day had wandered off for more than 20 minutes so ordering, waiting for food to be cooked and served and then eaten within an hour was impossible. Therefore we could not eat as a family at lunchtime on pool days but had to take turns "standing guard" so our sun beds did not have our belongings removed. We tried to explain to the guard but he had such a bad attitude we gave up. This is a great accommodation in a fantastic location and if I didn't have disabilities wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Very clean and staff, in the main, very helpful and friendly but I think they need to think about putting a guard rail on the ramp into the hotel, which of course was built in for luggage rather than wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Such a shame. I have brought this to the attention of the hotel group Melia
