Breakfast was very good

Dining in the Seran Restaurant wasn't as impressive as I had hoped

Fortunately we travelled by car so the hotel was in easy reach of Bayeau, Caen and the Normandy beaches. The food at breakfast was good and the quality of the food in the restaurant was of good quality. The hotel was in good order, clean and most of the staff spoke good english.

Our room would probably have been fine but the lighting was very dim and the desk was in front of the window so you couldn't open them or draw the curtains without difficulty. The desk was also full of stuff so had to be rearranged to use our laptop. It was also impossible to have a stand up shower as either the shower head would fall down or, if it stayed up, would flood the bathroom. The staff were very attentive probably because most of the guests were American but we found it a bit intrusive and as a result not very relaxing. We have stayed at many Relais et Chateaux hotels over the years, this was the second on this trip and it seems the group are imposing some formulaic rules or styles which detract from the individuality of the hotels rather than celebrating the differences and quirkiness of their properties. Although the food was excellent quality it seemed over-priced compared to other excellent meals elsewhere on our trip. Similarly we would have liked to get a taxi into Caen to avoid faffing around trying to park but the hotel has an exclusive contract with a firm based in Bayeau and the estimated cost would have been 150 euros (£125) which seemed excessive for a total of 24 miles return trip.

Not a big deal but you need to drive or Uber to town.

Cuisine was excellent and unique. The staff sought to enhance our stay and assure our comfort and help with travel connections. The property is beautiful and landscaping adds to the charm. We were comfortable and happy guests.

Every aspect of our stay was amazing, from Anna greeting us upon arrival and helping with all our needs throughout our stay. Her knowledge, kindness and sincerity was superior. The grounds leave you breathless with an ease of pure relaxation, the chateau is gorgeous and immaculate. The food from breakfast to dinner was the best we ever had. The service and people were truly amazing, we can't wait to go back!
