Château d'Audrieu - Relais & Châteaux

This is a creative reuse of a lovely chateau. It seems to have recently opened and while has potential, it still has a ways to go on service. It is also very expensive relative to other high end hotels in the Normandy/Brittany area.

The restaurant was very poor, especially since it used to have a michelin rosette. Poor menu choice, only a choice of 2 per course so we opted for the five course special menu at 95 euros to discover that 2 courses were those on the other menu. Furthermore, we were staying for 2 nights and they refused to provide different courses the second night for us. Some courses were fairly ordinary but good and some were poor, too salty, too plain or too ordinary. The st emilion wine was 300 euros. The best thing was the bread, perhaps made elsewhere. On our travels we ate lunch at a roadside cafe for 66 euros which was far superior in standard.

The Room was very confortable, beautiful venue.

The Service was poor and the good options were limited.

Dinner was mediocre and we were charged 62 euros for two 1/2 glasses of mediocre champagne which we thought was complimentary Breakfast was a buffet and there was very little laid out. We asked for more orange juice as it had run out and they said there wasn’t any then delivered some to the next table. The coffee machine wasn’t working in the room so they bough another, that didn’t work either so we ordered morning tea and coffee which took an hour to come. The safe was broken Room very pokey

Beautiful château with amazing property

The grounds, the pool, and the rooms were outstanding. The staff tried hard to accommodate our needs and were very pleasant. Additionally, the attention to detail throughout the hotel was awe-inspiring, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

However, we were disappointed that we could not dine at the hotel during our three-day stay. It appeared to be a result of what seemed to be a shortage of staff, which was a letdown considering the otherwise exceptional service we received. We hope this aspect can be addressed for future guests' convenience.
