INA Hotel Royal

I usually select my hotels by checking the reviews for breakfast. This hotel was no exception and I was certainly not disappointed - there was a comprehensive range of food and drinks and everything was constantly refilled when necessary. It was an excellent way to start each day. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was also within a minutes walk of a station with trains direct to and from the airport and within easy walking distance of the town centre.

This is a decent hotel but the quality of the rooms can be improved, especially with regards the bed. The mattress was creaky and pillows were completely worn out. We booked a double bed but instead were provided with two twin beds next to each other. This was inconvenient and just meant the beds would seperate over course of the night - would just be easier to sleep in seperate twin beds. Staff was great which negated the negative aspects but a good nights sleep makes all the difference the next day.

White crusty stains on the chairs, handle broke while in room which wasn't repaired when I asked. Beds are old and can feel the springs when laying down. I actually woke up with red marks all over my body from the first night thinking I had something seriously wrong. There is no ventilation. The dust was a huge problem. Breakfast was, to me, useless, even though I was charged 2 breakfasts per night for a solo visitor. They won't reply to my messages to refund or even fix the invoice. Filthy, and criminal if they won't help me with this error. Even so, I will never step one foot near any Centro hotel after this.

Nice staff, excellent location train station is with walking distance, and the tram station for local traveling is just one block away.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights, and had an amazing time - the staff were all really friendly and helpful, everything was clean, the en-suite bathroom was really big and well stocked with fluffy towels. The location of the hotel is brilliant, there is transport close by and you can walk to the centre of town in around 10 minutes. The breakfast was really tasty and there was a lot of choice. The price for three for two nights was really reasonable and overall, we had a splendid time!

I visited Cologne as part of a short family trip and was very pleased with this hotel! The room we had (for three people) was spacious and very clean (especially in the bathroom which is the room I'm always most fussy about). The bedroom was a little dusty however AND be warned, the walls are quite thin. Breakfast was a standard buffet breakfast including breads, hams, cheeses, etc. It was simple but plenty to give you a good morning energy boost! The staff at the hotel were absolutely lovely - extremely helpful and pleasant. With regards to location, the hotel is in Hansaring which is only about 20 mins from Cologne/Bonn airport by train and about a 20 mins walk from the Dom. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel - reasonably priced and it made my stay very enjoyable.

Upon arrival we were told our room was not ready yet but we could wait in the lobby and use the internet which would've been fine if the internet had actually worked. We told the receptionist about this problem and she tried to help but couldn't get it to work. After about an hour of waiting without any internet our room was finally ready. The elevator to get to the rooms is very old and hardly works half of the time. Before being able to step into the elevator you have to open a heavy door and once inside there's very little room, only enough for a couple of people at the most. The rooms are not equipped with air conditioning and the TV wouldn't allow access to the channels saying that the bill had not been paid. We dropped our stuff off at the room and went into town for a few hours when we got back we asked if the internet had been fixed and were told that they had to wait and see what their technician could do which took even longer considering the lack of communication between the different employees within the company. All in all it took about 7 hours for them to get the internet partially working considering it would kick you off after a few minutes and would go through its periods of completely not working. One gentleman working, JP, was the friendliest of them all and really tried to help and get these issues resolved. In conclusion, if you're looking for a hotel in Cologne this isn't the best one to choose.

15mins walk to Central station or one stop on metro. Hotel room is nice and clean. Nice breakfast. The Italian lady who helped us check in and out was super nice.
