Vila Gale Porto Centro Hotel

Clean comfortable hotel; with professional and efficient staff. Very pleasant health and spa club on top floor. Location is 10 minute walk from city centre but right by metro station so easy travel to other parts of the city and the coast. Good value for money if you want high quality accommodation at an out of centre price.

The cost and rating of this hotel did not meet expectations. Neighbourhood was not the best in terms of restaurants and shops.

The location was awful, it was derelict and dirty outside of the hotel, pigeon droppings on the steps leading up to the hotel and also pigeon droppings and broken glass on the area outside of the main entrance of the hotel. The room facilities advertised in the room were not available, i.e, kettle, tea and coffee making etc. I had to phone reception twice to get this brought to our room and then there was no milk included! The bedding was not replaced once in our whole stay of 5 nights, nor the room vacuumed. Tea cups and glasses were not washed properly and the tea and coffee sachets were not replaced once used. There was a piece of toilet paper behind our toilet which stayed there for the whole of our stay. Evidence that no real cleaning was happening!

for the price this hotel is fabulous. Lovely clean rooms, great views and facilities and a wonderful dining experience (breakfast). The hotel called a taxi for us to travel down to the riverside area which would be a 30 minute walk but at under 5 euros it was very cheap. The views from the room we were in on the 15th floor were lovely and gave us an idea of distances to various sites that we wished to visit. Porto is a great vibrant city, lovely people and so clean.

The hotel staff were really helpful, we arrived early and didn't expect to get a room as it was only 10.00am. To our delight a room was availabe which we were offered. The area around the hotel is not the best so would like a bit more central. The breakfast was very good with a great choice of both hot and cold food. I would reccommend this hotel.
