Vila Gale Porto Centro Hotel

We loved Oporto, but the neighborhood where the hotel is located is dead. After a fifteen minute walk, one could find action. The pool on the 19th floor was very nice, but they cleaned it from 7 to 9 and I really wanted to go swimming before breakfast! The bar and jazz room on the second floor was very nice.

We stayed at 16/F which was the floor still not yet renovate. Bathroom facilities are old. No coffee/tea kettle provide unless you ask. The good thing is breakfast buffet were excellent and variety choices to provide for guest.

The hotel is a massive tower block about 25 minutes walk from downtown. It is everything you would expect from a Vila Gale hotel, well equipped, comfortable, excellent service. The only downside is that it is a bit away from the main visitor centres but within easy distance of metro and buses. A good touring base with easy parking although why they charge quite so much is a mystery.

Very friendly staff and very quiet. Close to public transportation to downtown. Great parking and close to highway. Food was good!!

I was a bit dissapointed with the conditions of the hotel itself. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was very nice, but the hotel itself could use with some serious renovations. It was not exactly up to 4-star standards. Also, it was clear that our room was previously a smoking room and/or was next door to a smoking room as it constantly smelled of smoke. When I called the front desk they did offer for us to change rooms, but as we only had one more day it was not worth the trouble. I just would have expected it to smell fresher if it truly was not a smoking room.

The hotel is very good and staff excellent. There is small concern regarding to the location and access. Sometimes is difficult to access the hotel because it is located in the area with wide entrance and in between other buildings.

Typical modern hotel is located in 20 min walking distance from the center of Porto. Room big enough. Good breakfast. Good garage.

Near to centre but with a car park (this was closed when I arrived but staff had arrangements with the car park next door and were very helpful). Busy hotel for coach tours - meal times can be congested, but overall good value and in walking distance of central Porto

Efficient check in but queue for lifts (we were on 13th floor! ) due to arrival of coach party. Metro is best way to get around and nearest station only 3 min walk away. You can buy ticket for number of days required. Breakfast ok with decent choice of hot and cold food. Overall the hotel is a good base to explore the city.

We were on the 13th floor and had a nice view of Porto. The (small) gym on the 19th is even better. Food was very good and staff friendly and very helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Douro and city centre, but is not in a very salubrious area. However, we never felt in any sort of danger and would not let this put anyone off staying there. We would definitely recommend it.
