Vila Gale Porto Centro Hotel

It is a three-star hotel, not four. About 20-30 minutes walking distance from the city center. It is clean and with basic facilities, but a little far away from the train station and tourist attractions. The best way is to take a taxi from the station to the hotel, about 6-7 euros.

Our stay was enjoyable. Some changes to the menú for breakfast and dinner should be considered to offer a wider variety.

Really nice comfortable bed in nice quiet room. Good views. Pool area really nice but jacuzzi not warm enough. Steam room and sauna go off every three hours so you need to ring reception to put them back on- this is ok though as they respond well. Get a map from reception on day one, close to nice shopping areas but impossible without map and there are some fairly dodgy areas close by. Breakfast excellent, as was the housekeeping!

Very nice hotel but a bit of a walk to the downtown area. We ate dinner in the main dining room the first night there and was very displeased. The meal was a buffet and the food was very very underwhelming. We ate at outside restaurants the remainder of our stay. Across the street in front of the hotel we found a family run restaurant that was packed full of people every night because they served delicious Portugese food that was inexpensive and excellent.

Excellent location, great amenities and first class customer service from the Vila Gale staff.

The rooms were great and the air conditioning worked great. The beds were great. The only issue was that room service never got to our room without two calls going there. It was a short walk to Rua do Santa Catarina where there were many shops to explore. It was about a 30 minute walk to Fe do Porto with the ability to see the many sights of Porto. It is a bit off the beaten path, but it was worth it.

Everything was brilliant. We had a 4months' old baby in our room with us and even him enjoyed his cot bed quite a lot. Breakfast was amazing.

Awesome hotel, either great staff and fabulous breakfast for all tastes.
