Hotel Diplomat

Visit New Delhi for a wedding party which was in one of the neighbouring hotels. When we arrived at the hotel, we were met with a warm welcome from the staff. The hotel has a restaurant and bar serving lovely food and amazing cocktails. I can’t praise the staff enough who always greeted us with a friendly smile and conversation when we arrived back at the hotel.

Nothing bad to say, we had a lovely stay. The rooms were slightly dated but were kept clean.

The rooms in the ground floor were decent. The room we had on the 2nd level was below average , the bathroom was worse than a 1 star budget hotel , leaking taps , shaking bathroom seats, the single bed was two single beds wedged together and lousy mattress. My husband and MIL are not Indians, we would have 2 staff come into the room for everything u ordered or just hang around for tips to the point we had to just ignore them. It was embarrassing that if we were at the reception we would have to ask them if anything was wrong? We got charged 150 Rs for a bucket of ice which would have been ok if the service and the hotel were good ! We would have to ask them to clean our room else they won’t bother ! We even found the bills didn’t match the original bills , the only saving grace was the restaurant which has nothing to do with the hotel and the location !!!

Not bad location if you are for the conference in Taj or meeting organizations in that part of the city.

Wifi in my room was extremely poor, needed to go to the lobby to download small files. Bathroom is in awful condition. No healthy or light food for breakfast and no ready to eat, all should be waited, and at 7.30 when they start to serve, they barely wake-up, so if you need smth quick - impossible- all should be ordered and cooked for you. No elevators. In general, the hotel is definitely not a 4-5 stars as all websites state.

The location was good for the sightseeing we wanted to do. The restaurant Noa within the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was served in this restaurant. The stage were friendly. Also the staff at reception allowed me to alter my booking nights when I realised I had booked for 5 nights instead of only the 4 that I needed.

Rooms were out dated and dark. Hot water took a minimum of 15 mins to warm up. Discovered on first day that only instant coffee was included in our breakfast - when I ordered ice I was charged for this.

Good service

Bit expensive and auto drivers found it difficult to find

Staff is pleasant but facilities are now old and dated. Leaky shower doors which flood the bathroom floor. You have to run hot water tap for 20 minutes before you gat any warm water. Linen and towels are sadly old, grungy and thread bare Leaky bathroom faucets. See photos
