Occidental Nuevo Vallarta - All Inclusive

My sister and I stayed in a Royal Level room over several weeks in January and February and had an amazing vacation. Food was varied and for the most part very good in all the specialty dining venues. Each had several standout items and thus we never tired of the options. We received amazing service and kindness from Ezequiel, Irene and Augustin at the Royal pool and cabanas. They are exceptional employees, were an absolute pleasure to deal with and should be commended. Also notable were Antonio, Marisol, and Tito from the Royal breakfast restaurant and Daniel, Jose and Rafael from the Italian restaurant. All these people went above and beyond to ensure our experience was top notch. We will definitely return!!

We went with 7 family members in 3 rooms. The location of this resort is beautiful and very convenient for excursions. The resort is very family friendly. We took our 1 year old granddaughter and the staff went out of their way to accommodate her. We enjoyed all of the restaurants, but the Italian restaurant was our favorite. We ate breakfast every morning at the Royal Restaurant. I highly recommend upgrading to the Royal level. The staff at this resort is excellent! We would definitely like to return!

The service was excellent, the people kind as can be. The room was noticeably worn and could use refreshing, not soundproof at all. The food was slightly better than average, but not special. The entertainment was good and fun.

We were quite satisfied with every aspect of the resort. The First Club bartender Julio and pool bartender Augustine were favorites. Irene was a favorite waitress. One thing we are again disappointed in is the saving of lounge chairs on the beach and at the pools. Some guests are saving places at both locations and not using them for many hours at a time.

Upon arrival, a warm greeting from Nestor, who delivered our luggage to our room after checking in. Jose and Luis were also helpful. Karen checked us in on the 7th floor, Royal Level. Karen went over what the hotel had to offer and made us dinner reservations. Karen was very helpful throughout our stay. Karen and Nestor arranged for our luggage when we checked out. The Royal Level restaurant staff, Antonio, Marisol, Tito and Eligio were very attentive when we had our breakfast and dinners there. We really enjoyed our meals. Maria, in the Lounge Bar, was quite pleasant when taking our orders. The staff of the Royal Level pool area, Ezequiel, Irene, Agustry, Victor and Cesar, made sure everyone was taken care of. They were always cheerful when bringing us our orders. The hotel rooms were cleaned and stocked everyday. The pool area was a daily hangout. Enjoyed the beach walks. Enjoyed the meals at all the restaurants we ate at.

Excellent! The staff were excellent and I can't say enough about the wonderful reception we received! The hotel is very clean, the rooms are a good size and the staff are very warm and inviting from the hotel manager to the restaurant staff and the cleaners. The managers treat the staff with respect and they get respect in return. We will continue to return to the Occidental in Nuevo Vallarta for many years!

We are here now at this beautiful resort. No complaints or concerns whatsoever from us. Nothing but appreciation and thanks for the wonderful treatment by all of the staff we have encountered. Thank you 😊 Royal level restaurant staff thank you also for your warm smiles and attentive service. Antonio, Marisol Cardenas, Tito, Sara, Yadira?, Dana, Johana you are all great! Haven't done all the specialty restaurants yet so will review them and pool staff separately. We are having a wonderful stay and love this resort. First time here but not our last.

If you're looking for mediocre and like sleeping through a rock concert, this is the place for you. The buffett is okay, restaurants - well, we ate in each one at least two times. Will not miss the food. Most disappointing was the lack of employee cross training which meant a lack of service. Several employees did not speak English - which is not the problem. The problem was when you needed help, if they didn't speak English, they'd shrug and walk away. If they did speak English, you were often passed on to someone else. For instance, I was trying to find some chair clips that were taken from our chairs. No less than four people shrugged and pointed for me to ask someone else. No help, no service because it wasn't their area, so they wouldn't help you. Then, get this - If you're looking for a quiet evening it won't happen. At 9:00 PM, their live show starts. They appeared to be good shows, but they were outside by the pool and exceedingly loud. If you tried to go to sleep, it was impossible. Like I said, trying to sleep in a rock concert. Because of the noise, four other guests told us that they had to move their rooms, and it was still unbearable. The show is not optional. Everynight, everybody in the resort hears blasting, unrelenting music from 9:00-10:15 PM, then the karaoke starts in the open air lounge with loud singing filtering up into your room for over an hour. Don't expect to sleep or have any quiet in your room until well after 11:00 PM. And here is the kicker. We were told to guarantee dinner reservations, Royal Members got priority. That was $50 per person per day. We were there for ten days, so that was an additional $1000. Basically, a fee to pay for every dinner. To quote several guests we met - almost all very nice Canadians - they said things like, "We've had it. We're never coming back here." Well, this was our first time, and we're never coming back. It'd be crazy to even think that we would.

Beautiful grounds and beach. Food was excellent. Rooms could use a little updating. This was not a huge hotel but still lots of choices with activities, food. Nice location -right on the beach. We found it difficult to get a seat by the one pool however.

This is a great resort if you enjoy a quiet spot on the beach. Food is delicious and varied. Rooms are very clean, mini fridge is replenished every day.
