Catalonia Punta Cana - All Inclusive

I absolutely love this resort! I am actually staying at the adults only the last two days and had to go back and update this review. I do believe that the adults is better then family because you get access to both but the restaurants especially for dinner reservations are really Good for breakfast and lunch you just have to pick according to your taste and style but there is something for everyone. This my third time staying at Catalonia chain and I really love it here!

The beach was not usable. There was so much seaweed and the hotel doesn't do a very good job of cleaning the shoreline. We booked a privileged room which allows for early check in. Our room wasnt ready until after even regular check in. The staff was not very helpful or friendly. The air conditioning wasn't working well so the room was very warm. We reported it and they never showed up to even look at it.

Excellent hotel, comfortable and remodeled rooms. The pool and surroundings are clean and well-maintained. But what fascinated us most was the staff, very attentive and accommodating. Both Luis, Leonardo, Christopher, and the other guys, whose names I don't remember, thank you for all your attention.

We booked a family room and the room was okay. Awkwardly there was no door to the shower and had a his a her shower as if it was a couples room, toilet was open as well so two people could not utilize the bathroom at the same time. Beds were not that comfortable. Room service was horrible and half the time what we ordered was not what we got. The buffet was good if you got there early. The highlight at this resort was the bartenders that’s where we received the best service. Overall it’s an ok resort but I wouldn’t go back as I feel if we paid a little more we would have gotten much more value for money.

The overall resort was good with great food and very friendly people. But the room temperatures that would not drop below about 80° a night or hard to sleep in and the smell from the seaweed was so overpowering that I had to keep sniffing menthol to get it out of my nose. Swimming through the seaweed to get to the beautiful waters was a little bit discouraging. I know this is global warming and not resorts fault

I cannot say what’ll liked, since things were wrong from the beginning. We arrived a day later, thought l let them know as soon as l could; they charged me for the night. When we arrived, they wanted us to wait until a room was available. I did not agree. They gave us a room, but the staff took it personal and did not explain anything about the property. We went to the beach just to be kicked out as soon as we tried to settle. They told us we were not allowed in that part of the beach. It was my birthday, and my daughter had to figure out where everything was, since they did not give us any information. As much as my daughter tried to get us a dinner reservation and explained that it was my birthday; no one budge. I finally complained and a reservation was granted. The next day they tricked us into a lunch an a massage, which l though it was their way to apologize. Instead it was a meeting to sell us some services. I asked if they could grant us a late check out, because l was not feeling well and we may not be on time due to that “offer”. They said no, and offer to charge me $35.00US. I paid, but when l realize the trick; came back to complain. I spent more time complaining that enjoying myself. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere else. My daughter who was born in the US, has not have a lot of experience in the Dominican Republic, has traveled a lot around the world, and works in hospitality; and does not complain, said to me:” mommy, people are not nice in here” “

Room was never cleaned or stocked. I asked for ice everyday. Rarely arrived. Food was terrible. The ala carte dinners were all fully booked. Which is absurd. The room i picked out i did not get bc they were overbooked. The staff will be rude unless you speak spanish

I book two rooms 306 which had a sewer smell from day 1 we stayed 5 days . I inform the help desk and nothing change . The other room 317 room service skip cleaning, phones don’t work on both rooms , water in the shower only comes out hott . The buffet don’t have menu for people that don’t eat pork because everything has pork associated with it . Workers need to be able to speak and understand some English . Beach is unusable period . Two much sea weed . Casino was the highlight, people there were friendly Janey wonderful person at the casino. Steakhouse service and food was great . Pool pizza was good except for again no one can’t communicate in some English .
