It was conveniently located across the street from Bakersfield Amtrak station. There 24 hour coffee station was great and so was the workout equipment. There was a minor discrepancy in the description of the room I had originally booked and therefore had to switch to another, for a small additional fee. However they also accommodated by allowing me to pay cash for the deposit, (FYI) seeing as how there's no Bank of America anywhere near there. The hallways were quite clean and smelled very pleasant, the grounds in general were kept very well. Housekeeping, maintenance workers and even the landscapers were all polite and pleasant. The gentleman that was working in the restaurant makes some amazing dishes! Unfortunately I didn't get his name but he was very professional and pleasant in helping accommodate me with a creative dish.

There is only one way in and one way out! Lots of gates around the property but they're all locked. I can understand the safety part of it however a major inconvenience when you're trying to go to a restaurant in the back and have to walk all the way around the block. So there were two separate buildings to accommodate rooms and we stayed in the farther one. The main walking bridge was locked(?) so we had to go across the bridge where cars would drive over to get to the parking lot on that side. Not very safe if you have children because there's basically just enough room for one car at a time. For some reason it took me 2 days to finally get the TV guide to display all the channels that were available and the one movie option, Netflix, kept popping up error try again later for our whole stay. Our room was located right next to the ice machine, the workout room and the vending machine. The workout room is pleasant enough however anyone staying on the second floor that happens to walk down the hallway has access to look down on those working out as it's an open area on top. That did give a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling knowing that anybody can stand there and watch you but all in all good equipment, TV and water fountain accessible. Now I booked through a third party but the description said they had a hot tub/ jacuzzi, of which they do not and the pool was filthy! Due to the heat not enough to stop the kids from entering it momentarily but one good passover every morning with the net would make all the difference! The bathroom fan was so deafening it was almost preferred to use the restroom in the dark. There were also a few fixtures that could use some attention; such as the shower curtain rod on one side was barely hanging on for dear life and half the vanity lights were out on the mirror. The beds and bedding were clean and comfortable and there were hangers, a microwave and mini fridge, etc in the room for convenience.

Very secure despite the neighborhood being a bit run down. The walk along Mill Creek very nice during daylight hours. Decent coffee in the lobby and a great place around the corner for delicious Mexican food, Sancho’s Tacos.

The price seemed a lot for the neighborhood but I did feel safe behind the substantial fence surrounding the property.

DOGS!!! Make sure they do not put dogs next to your room! We were kept awake several times because they put dogs next door to us even though the place was half empty! Who puts dogs in the middle of a hotel? 2AM, the neighbor slams his door as he walks his 2 dogs!!! AT 2AM!

Our room was pretty big. There was a mini fridge and coffee pot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's only a half mile to downtown. There are plenty of restaurants and nightlife in close proximity. It was very quiet. I loved that it was gated as well.
