It was an average hotel experience.

Close to the highway

The food portions, expensive for what you got. Food was platted unappealing. I had 2 very small fast fry pork chops with onions, 2 small scoops of potatoes and large chunks of carrots and turnip. No garnish, had to ask for gravy and it was $27. 98year old asked for a lunch size turkey dinner and it was more food than I had. They really need to have a seniors menu/portions.

Hotel is outdated. Stayed for 2 nights and no housekeeping or fresh towels.

The beds were very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. We had asked not to be in the basement, and they honoured our request and put us on the second floor. There seemed to be ample parking at all hours of the day.

The hotel is very outdated--so dark and gloomy and the hallways to some rooms (ours) are confusing and winding. Our main problem was with the worn carpets and furniture in the bedroom as well as in the public areas a terrible smell in the hallway to our room, an air conditioner that was extremely noisy, and no fan in the bathroom. Some simple updates would really help this hotel move into the 2000's. Finally, it was conveniently located right on the highway, but trying to get into Gander meant having to venture out onto the TCH which was at times scary.

The room was fine, clean & comfortable. It was not on the road side so it was quiet as well. There was no fridge in the room which was a surprise. I was told you have to order it in advance to get one. As it was only one night I didn't bother. The staff was nice & froze my ice packs overnight in their fridge. The hallways & lobby look dated and the carpets could use a cleaning. I didn't try the restaurant as it closed at 8pm but I understand it is quite good.

Only complaint is the distance of our room from entrance and odd layout to find the room.

I liked the service in the dining room with Mandy. However my steak was not great, just okay. The vending machines were empty, it was difficult to get bottled water and snacks. The room (254) was very outdated with old carpet.
