TV in room is tiny. Was not allowed to sit in bar area to watch ball game as I had Starbucks coffee in hand. No one in bar! Democrat conference was very loud. Has nice fitness center. Beds were good.

The room was OK, but the toilet stopped working in the middle of night, which got rather nasty before we could alert housekeeping about it in the morning. It should have worked from the outset, as we did nothing to cause the problem. The bar closed at 9:00pm - too early for us, having returned to the hotel from dinner. The restaurant wasn't open for breakfast - only the coffee bar was, which was disappointing, as we had a drive ahead of us.

"Visited Shanty Creek from September 6-9 for an annual golf trip."

Came for a golf trip and the courses did not disappoint. Played Cedar River, Hawks Eye and The Legend and would rank them in that order. Courses were in excellent condition and pace of play was good. Legend course needs some investment to restore the course to previous condition. Cart paths not good and bunkers need a lot of work. Stayed in the Lakeside Hotel and it was fine. Rooms were somewhat dated but clean; however, there was no housekeeping service during our stay. Nice on-site spa/gym, although food options onsite are limited. Looking forward to going back. Excellent value but nothing fancy.

They recently updated their lobby area & it looks very nice & the rooms are clean, bedding clean & comfortable. There is a smell when you walk in the lobby of it being old & musty & the hallways are dingy & tired but it is the only hotel in the area so there’s not much of a choice. Staff is excellent & super friendly so that is a huge plus & outweighs the negatives!

The entire property is very dated. The rooms are very dated, think 1985 ish! Played golf and the course is in bad shape. Fairways were terrible. They are extremely short-staffed which caused delays in service, and food prep. I'm guessing this is why the staff is cranky.
