"Grand!"

7.0

Dining room, terrace outside

Room was tiny and it didn't help to know it was a single occupancy room. Also hated that the bed was up against a wall.

"The Berkeley Square Hotel Bristol boutique"

10.0

Beautiful little boutique hotel in a quiet historical square in a nice part of town that is central and most sights are walkable from. Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Great toiletries in the bathroom and the Bristol Cream was a great touch. Friendly staff Chloe and Noah at reception were lovely and knowledgeable about Bristol, exceptional service from them! Many good food options close by and hotel restaurant is said to be nice but closed during our stay (Bank Holiday weekend). Definitely will be returning when I visit Bristol in the future, highly recommended. I've seen the reviews regarding the rooms being hot, it is a graded building. We figured out how to open the sash windows from the top and they provide a fan in room so we were fine on one of the hottest days of the year. Might be different in one of the smaller rooms, we staid In a twin room.

"Really comfy room. Very helpful staff. Unfortunately couldn’t open window due to flies and no aircon"

Spotlessly clean room. Beautiful bathroom.

No air conditioning. Such a hot room. Unable to open window due to an influx of flies! Fan did help though.

"Budget Boutique for the Win!"

10.0

What a lovely little hotel! Berkeley Square is reminiscent of the nearby city of Bath with its blond Georgian style buildings. My room looked out on a sweet little park, and I was able to open my window for fresh air. Though the room was quite small, it was tastefully decorated, with a pretty bench seat and some whimsical touches. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom included charming, old-fashioned pull-chain toilet and claw-foot tub. An old-school dial phone linked to the front desk, and the coffee setup included a French press and a fridge with some milk, which saved me going out. The mini bar made me laugh because in the US they are notorious rip-offs, but this one had things like cans of Coke for a modest £2. There was a complimentary aperitif with an invitation, "Sip me!" The large standing fan helped to drown out the weekend noise from the nearby restaurants and bars (which quieted down by midnight, in any case). Though it's a small hotel, there is a lift. The common area lounge was full of cozy seating, and the second I sat down I was asked if I'd like something to drink and was brought a carafe of ice water. The front desk staff were fantastic and super helpful and personable. A shout out to Yanna, who checked me in and scared up a bowl and spoon for my homespun breakfast, and Flo, who cheerfully chatted with me on checkout, sharing favorite places nearby. Though Flo told me she and Yanna were covers from another hotel, I would never have known this wasn't their regular post, as they both were knowledgeable and great at their jobs. The hotel was a short walk from lovely Brandon Park, where I climbed Cabot Tower and took in views of the entire city, and lots of nice restaurants and a couple of supermarkets for basics. I would absolutely stay here again!

The room had a slightly musty smell upon entering, like the carpet hadn't finished drying after cleaning. Though I'm sensitive to smells, with the window open it was fine. A screen on the window would have been nice, though I realize these are uncommon in the UK. There is a/c in the hallway, but not in the room, though this was not unexpected, as it's an old building.

"Attractive comfortable small hotel, in quiet leafy square"

9.0

I stay here regularly. It’s in a leafy square off the main road, in a quiet part of the city where I like to stay and in a property full of character. The rooms have been recently refurbished to high standard. Bed and pillows comfortable. Nice touches in the rooms like biscuits, fruit and sherry (complimentary) and mini bar. Staff friendly and helpful. Handy to have a car park (though payable) but unfortunately full this time.

Nothing. It was all good.

"Cosy room"

7.0

Loved the cosy room and the seating. Great bathroom with lovely toiletries. The staff were lovely.

The room I had was in a little mini corridor by itself which felt a bit isolated and creepy. The door handle kept rattling in the night which was disconcerting. Turns out it was staff doing a security round ( the corridor door closing caused a vacuum which in turn shook the room door) and not someone trying to get in. Unfortunately the breakfast I ordered was missing some components which was disappointing. Once again ( I've stayed here a couple of times) the restaurant was closed to guests in the evening for private functions which I did not know before booking.
