Gateway Chikmagalur

I remember visiting this property around 10 years back, when it was fairly new and the Gateway brand was not invented. The property has not changed much over the years, except some marginal wear and tear. However, this time around I found the service a little too stiff, as expected in a big-brand star hotel. I recall the last time the staff were much more attentive and went out of their way to help. Expect none of the small town hospitality. The rooms are a bit musty, especially in the rainy seasons. The cottage rooms are actually waste of money - the promised "garden view" is just a patch of grass with a few trees. Lot of wastage of space within the room itself. Food is supremely expensive but decent. Not a bad place but doesn't have the touch of say, Vythiri Resort.

Hi I stayed at this hotel on 13th and 14th. The swimming pool was not clean, some particel wer floating and the floor was also not clen of the pool. Food pricing is too steep, not value for money. No other options as the hotel is tucked away 7kms away main town. No acess to other transportation. Hotel provided transport very expensive, note reasonable. the same transport comes at half the cost in the town. This is the only disadvantage that if you do not have your own vehicle, you will have to shell lot of bucks for transport and food. The hotel and the upkeep is good in avery pleasant settting. I enjoyed it.

The hotel is located at a very convinient place. The ambience and environment is really good, and has ample of facilities for leisure.

Good overall. The cottage was nice and property maintained well. We were there on a new year eve and the party for the evening was not great. There was no DJ and just a local live band which wasnt very cool. The stay otherwise was good.

We spent three nights at the Gateway KM Road. The hotel and especially the restaurant is very good. The disappointing issues are the missing service. If you spend a lot of money for the accomodation it is very annoying to be charged with 180 Rs. for half an hour Internet access ! In my opinion the charges for a simple breakfast are also not justified.
