"Unclean areas of the room"

2.0

We walked in and inspected the room and took pictures as the room was not to our liking. I requested another room and they said they did not have one. There was mold and I have asthma, I did not want to stay. We had also requested additional towels and the front desk said they had none available. I want my money back I will not be returning to this hotel.

This was in very sad condition, it needed paint, repairs and a staff that cared. I understand it will be closing in the. near future.

I was surprised that the Expedia pics are not what the property actually looks like. It is a run-down Art Deco hotel in need of a major face-lift. It has the potential to be so much better. Pineapple Point in Ft. Lauderdale should be an inspiration to see how the Gay community expects to be treated on vacation.

Unfortunately, i needed to reduce my stay and was given no flexibility and told there would be an enormous penalty which I now owe. This left a very bad taste regarding a new property I was looking forward to trying and will not be recommending it to anyone.

The gym facility is pretty outdated and has machines falling apart. The charge to hold bags being extra on top of the fees and hotel stay. And the bathrooms need a fan. You can’t change the temperature in your room either. It’s more a hostel vibe. Not planning to stay in another Axel, unfortunately.

"Worst Axel hotel in the chain we’ve stayed at."

6.0

The bed was comfortable but we couldn’t close the curtains properly as they didn’t overlap. In the end we used a bedside table and the bin to hold the curtains closed - we were at the front in 226 and lots of lights. No traffic noise though. The music at the pool was excessively loud, to the point where it was just distorted - either lower the volume or buy better speakers. The pool was not heated and unusable, the hot tub was just a hot tub without any bubbles as the switch didn’t work. There were far too many straight couple considering this is meant to be a LGBT hotel. There is also a $5 charge per bag for storing your luggage if you have a late flight. The receptionist insisted this is normal but it’s a first for me having been travelling for 30 years - basically the last chance the hotel has to rip you off before you leave. We’ve stayed at Axel hotels in Berlin, Maspalomas & Barcelona in the last 12 years and the Miami one has got to be the worst.

"AXEL HOTELS at their worst. "

6.0

The hotel looks very grand. The music by the pool was excessive and the speakers couldn’t handle it leading to constant distortion. Either turn the level down or buy better speakers. The hotel was full of straight people. It’s meant to be a LGBT hotel. We needed to leave our bags for a few hours, this is the first hotel that charges for luggage storage at $5 a bag. Total rip off and the worst axel hotel in the chain we have stayed at.
