Relais Castel Bigozzi

Castel Bigozzi was a great find. It was very close to Monteriggioni but out in the country where it was quiet. It was an easy drive into Sienna and Florence. The rooms and the staff could not have been better. The views were magnificent. We sat on the patio enjoying a wonderful breakfast every morning.

Having a car is pretty necessary due to the location. The staff was wonderful, our room was lovely, and it was extremely restful.

We stayed at the Castel Bigozzi at the end of April 2011 just before the tourist season kicked in. We were pleased to discover that it was easy to find and to a higher standard that we expected. There were some minor renovations going on (which we assumed were due to the coming season) which were a little disturbing during the day but as you want to go out and about this was no big deal. The only negative point was that the suite we booked had a small kitchenette but the sink wasn't plumbed in (no big deal, there was an extra sink in the hall) and there was no plates, cutlery or cooking utensils supplied. There was a fridge however. There is a reasonably stocked grocers at the bottom of the hill from the villa and a rather up-market restaurant in Strove itself. Otherwise there is nearby Monteriggioni and various other towns within an hours drive. Free internet was available which helped with checking out local attractions, there was a pool (which we didn't use) and outdoor breakfast and picnic area and large grounds to walk in. Apart from the small kitchen niggle there was nothing to complain about and we'd definitely visit again.

I stayed here about 3 years ago and loved the location for wine tasting in Chianti. This stay for our honeymoon was just as good. The area was very quite accept for the occasional hunter taking a shot in November. The traditional room has the wooden bed and wardrobe with romantic views of the vineyards. There appears to be a new owner who has updated the spa area.

We rented a car and drove to the surrounding Tuscany region towns. The location was great, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the staff very helpful. Overall, the nest stay we have had in a long time!!!!!

We chose to stay in Strove as a central point for our travels around Tuscany. Castell Bigozzi overlooks this small town and surrounding vineyards. Its the typical Tuscan setting you’ll have seen in all the brochures. Tasteful and discrete modern additions have been made to this historic building, although our rooms remained quite traditional in style and furnishing. We were also lucky to have our own terrace, which was great for late afternoon tipples. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast, while predictable in its offering, was better executed than most in its modern dining room.

We liked very much the hotel, everything was as expected. The location is great. A great place to relax and enjoy the peacefull atmosphere of Toscana. We'll come back.

We had the suite on the groung floor with patio. It was perfect for our stay as we toured the area every day and returned to a freshly cleaned set of rooms in the evening. The breakfast, was excellent, with a very wide choice and no restriction on how much you ate. Watch out however for the mosquito in the evening.

We were overwhelmed by the attention the staff provided us, especially the reception staff and the kitchen staff that oversaw the breakfast service every morning. We stayed in a spacious room overlooking the Tuscan countryside, and could not have been more comfortable. We requested local restaurant suggestions and tried one nearby, that really captured the local cuisine and wines. We will be counting the days until we return to Castel Bigozzi.
