The Barn Hotel & Spa

I phoned and emailed unsuccessfully several times the week before our stay to request reservation of a table for dinner on our arrival day. At check in was told restaurant was closed, but food was available in the bar. Several options on the very restricted bar menu were not available. Bedroom walls and skirting very dirty, black mould in one corner and on window frame, dirty net curtains, holes in blackout curtains, rubbish on floor behind cupboard moved away from the wall in order to plug kettle into power point. Thin, lumpy duvets. Bathroom was clean and looked recently refurbished and equipped for a disabled guest. Adjacent to the room, the intruder alarm and fire door escape bolt had been disconnected/interfered with. Breakfast in the restaurant was good. Very efficiently staffed.

Didn’t recognise booking for both rooms and meeting room too. Booked 4 premium rooms and got only 3. TV didn’t work in one of the rooms. Cups in meeting room not clean. Staff nice and found bookings eventually but must be a disconnect between Expedia and hotel. Not great

We stayed at the hotel for the weekend. When we arrived at the hotel on the Friday night there was a wedding and a murder mystery going on so it was busy. On Sunday morning we were woken at 8:45 am by excessively loud disco music and DJ, which was still going on when we left at 12pm. The receptionist said it was a conference as there was no apology! I wonder what type of conference is on a Sunday morning with disco music? The rooms were comfortable and relatively clean however house keepings idea of cleaning is to pull the duvet up on the bed, replace the dirty tea cups and clear the 4 threadbare towels and mat with only 2 further threadbare towels and no mat! There is no phone in the room so if you need anything, you have to walk back to reception, which for us was down 2 flights of stairs and a long corridor, to speak to them. They also will only give 1 key per room. Obviously they hope no-one will bother complaining as it's such a toil. There's free internet but the service is rubbish so we ended up using 4G. The bar staff were very pleasant but overall it was disappointing.

Checked in to be advised that our other room has been upgraded. On entering our room we had a very basic room and two single beds! The upgraded standard room had lovely walk in shower, it was clean and modern. On complaining (our room cost £326 and standard £198) we were informed they had another room should we wish. They also stated that the complaint had to come to yourselves! The photos are of our room that we were moved to! Dirty, old, damaged, very noisy due to neighbour bathroom at our heads! Our bathroom fan sounded like it had an electrical problem and the bath took time to drain, a handle would have been good to aid stepping out. Tv was wonky and the mirror to high to actually use! Staff lovely however I felt due to wedding being held that night they were pushed for room. Breakfast 5* Disgusted at having to pay £7 for a robe in spa and £1 a towel. Overall our room was below satisfactory.

Convenient place. Clean,spacious, polite staff, parking included, breakfast was great and various food options also on site.

Hotel a bit tired and beds were terrible but the breakfast, pool and sauna made up for it. Excellent value for money.

Very nice stay - hotel is a little tired in places, but all very reasonable for the price.
