Deerhurst Resort

We had a great experience at this resort. There was a wide variety of activities available, so there was always something to do, whether we wanted to relax or stay active. The shuttle service to Hidden Valley ski area was a huge bonus and made getting to the slopes easy and stress-free. Overall, a wonderful stay and a place we’d happily return to.

Do NOT stay here. Horrific waste of money and precious vacation time. Dirty everywhere, overcrowded, disorganised, rude management, unhelpful staff, terrible/overpriced food, worst breakfast buffet ever, too spread out, internet never works

Unfortunately, our stay at this resort was not a pleasant experience, especially considering the high price charged. The internet never worked during our stay. When we complained, we were informed that it could not be fixed for the next few days, leaving us without internet for the entire duration. We also encountered insects in the bathroom, which was particularly concerning with young children. I had to clean the bathroom myself as the kids were scared. The furniture and kitchen cabinets were old and outdated, and the kitchen cabinets had an unpleasant smell. The bathroom had a very small mirror, which was inconvenient. Although there was a laundry facility, no detergent was provided. When we asked housekeeping, we were told they did not have detergent because the units belong to individual owners and are rented through the resort. Additionally, our accommodation was located away from the main resort area, requiring us to drive every time to attend activities. Overall, the experience was not great and certainly did not justify the price paid. I would not recommend this property.

This is the second visit. The whole resort is clean, and the staff are professional. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. There are three restaurants; the food is on the pricy side, but it is delicious.

The facility was great for the granddaughter .I wish we were notified that our room would be away from the main facility.

Never coming here again. The restaurant states it’s open until 9:00 p.m., yet when we arrived at 8:00 p.m. after the Christmas magic show (which was AMAZING), we were told they were already closing—an entire hour early. We were refused a table despite the dining room at Drift Kitchen + Bar not being busy and all the buffet food still being out. Apparently, they “sometimes shut the restaurant early.” I have never heard of that. Earlier in the evening, we tried calling the restaurant three times around 6:00 p.m. to make a reservation—no answer—so we left a message. At 6:15 p.m., when we returned to the hotel, we asked the front desk if a reservation was required and were told no. At no point did anyone mention that the buffet restaurant would be closing early. Before the magic show, we stopped at the bar for a quick drink and told the server we were heading to the buffet restaurant for dinner afterward. Again, no one informed us it would be closing early. After the show, we went straight to the buffet restaurant and were turned away—even though the food was still available. We were forced to eat at the bar instead, which has a very limited menu. The manager was not helpful at all (I wish I had gotten her name). She said our drinks would be free, but in reality only one round was comped—and they chose the cheapest drink we ordered. That felt incredibly cheap and disappointing. We were especially upset because we were traveling with our 4-year-old son, who is a picky eater. The buffet would have been perfect for him. At the bar, he ordered the kids’ mac and cheese, which was white cheese instead of the usual Kraft-style mac and cheese, and he wouldn’t eat any of it. The evening started off so well. The front desk attendant was lovely, and our waiter was kind. I genuinely felt bad for the staff who were put in this position. Deerhurst is a large operation—there’s no excuse for this level of miscommunication and penny-pinching. We had even talked about making this a yearly Christmas tradition. Absolutely not. We will never be returning.
