Deerhurst Resort

The view and scenery were gorgeous

No winter activities at all, even though there was plenty of snow. So there was nothing to do.

Unfortunately when we went, there wasn’t enough snow - there for we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor activities. We may consider going back during the summer, as I heard Deerhurst thrives more during the summer - and the views were beautiful.

We recently stayed at Deerhurst Resort for a birthday getaway for my boyfriend, and unfortunately the experience was far from what we expected. On the night of our arrival, during a snowstorm, we attempted to use the resort’s shuttle service to get to dinner. Despite multiple texts as instructed, there was no response and the shuttle never arrived, leaving us to drive in poor weather conditions. We had confirmed dinner reservations at one of the restaurants, made directly with a customer service representative. When we arrived, we were told the restaurant was closed due to a private event and were turned away. This was extremely frustrating given the confirmed booking. That said, the manager and our server, Mia, at Compass Grill & Lounge were absolutely wonderful. They handled the situation professionally and went above and beyond to accommodate us — they were the bright spot of our weekend. I had upgraded our package to include breakfast, prosecco, and treats. On the morning of our departure, Drift was closed and we were told no restaurants on the resort were open for breakfast. While we were reimbursed for breakfast, it was still very disappointing. We also did not receive the prosecco and treats on our second evening as promised. Our massage treatments were also below expectations. My sister operates spas in high-end hotels, so I am very familiar with quality spa service — unfortunately, this experience did not meet that standard. To add to the overall disappointment, our room had visible stains on the carpet, possibly from an animal. While this alone may have been overlooked, combined with the multiple service issues, it added to a very unsatisfactory stay. Customer service is critical today, and word of mouth is powerful. What was meant to be a relaxing and celebratory weekend became stressful and disappointing instead. We truly hope management takes this feedback seriously so future guests do not encounter similar issues.

Resort was nice.

All restaurants but one was closed for dinner. And it didn't open until 4. So we had to go to town for lunch and breakfast. Even the coffee shop was closed through the week. You have to make sure you ask for coffee for your room every day and your room to be made up or your out of luck.

Our suite was very dated. Had to request having ice put down in front of our door, as well as the stairs. We had to shovel the ice away from our door to be safe when walking. We requested a ground floor suite as we had someone with a cane and walker. We were moved to the bottom floor, not a ground floor which we were told at reception. Very unorganized event (Girlfriends Weekend). Was suggested we purchase drink tickets in advance. Lots of confusion getting our drink tickets. Was asked for ID but I had printed my drink tickets off (1 page per ticket) in which I was told was not required. No communication on any of this. Was also told that drink tickets could ONLY be used at certain bars and at certain times. This was not communicated at all. Went to the bar near the reception and asked to speak to the manager. Employee said he could not find her. I asked him to try and call her or ask someone else to find her, was told "that is not my job" and he walked away. Food for breakfast we lacking. Waited for replenishment for over 15 minutes and then was told no more would be coming out - this was at 10:30 am. I have been to Deerhurst before, years ago and never had any issues. I would not recommend Deerhurst for this event nor would I recommend anyone visiting Deerhurst.

Deerhurst is definitely showing its age. The service was sub par. Rooms are cleaned on request, which I wasn’t advised. So had to order additional face cloths and coffee Dining, the service is the larger room was again sub par. The food was was over cooked and of poor quality The lounge/bar, service was better, but food was over priced and again ( i suspect same kitchen) was over cooked. For the cost paid extremely disappointing. Not likely to return.

Went for a girls getaway trip… we all had an amazing time… the spa was really good and the staff were so friendly and very helpful… Lots of activities to choose from and the food is really good… We had the best time and cannot wait to go back…

We had a group of over 40 people stay at the resort for our annual Landscape Ontario Peer to Peer Summit (12 years running). This is our second year staying at the Deerhurst Resort. The views are gorgeous, the resort is expansive and clean and the staff do everything they can to ensure we are looked after during meals, meetings and our stay.
