Redmont Hotel Birmingham - Curio Collection by Hilton

I was there for a work event. There were 3 of us ladies and 2 of us shared a room the friend that I shared the room had an allergic reaction to the hotel. She is allergic to environmental, dust etc. We are pretty sure the air vent was pushing all the dust on the vent right into our room. She woke up both days with swollen eyes and her whole face being puffy. When we first got into our room the lights wouldn't work, they finally flickered on like a scary movie. Neither of the lamps were plugged in either. As we reached to the back of the bedside table to plug it in, we noticed what we thought was melted wax poured on the back of the side table. Speaking of tables there was not a desk or table to set things. Everything had to go in the floor. We also did not have a mini fridge and had to request one. Which when it arrived the door was broken, and we had to rig it to stay closed. The curtains had bobby pins on then to hold them closed and the 1 chair in the room had stains all over it. We didn't have hot water the first night or the next morning and the tub wouldn't drain and the first wash I went to use, once I got it wet under the water there were black spots that appeared on it. For the price we paid for this very outdated hotel there should have at least been a free breakfast. The elevators are very small and smell terrible. The staff was nice, but the overall experience was terrible, and I would not recommend anyone to stay there. My other friend that was in a different room was originally put into a room that already had someone staying in it. When we were dropping her off to her room, we found that it was occupied. When I went with her back to the front desk we got stuck in the elevator. The front desk lady stated that she tried to call us but none of us had a missed call from the hotel. Also, each floor has a sign for Ice Machine but low and behold I go to the front desk to ask where the ice machine is and the guy tells me that they are only located on the odd number floors...... The sign should say that.

The Redmont made our stay in Birmingham very pleasant. The valet staff was super! We also enjoyed the cafe and restaurant located in the lobby. Our room was very nice and had an incredible view of the city. As a single mother traveling with two kids, I felt safe and comfortable.

The Redmont Hotel was nice, not perfect. Lobby is gorgeous and the room was clean. Definitely showing some wear in some areas but nothing serious. Hallways could use a very deep cleaning. Noise is a big problem. Bring ear plugs as the elevators make a loud banging noise that vibrates through the room. Also don’t book any rate that includes breakfast because the breakfast menu is dismal. They were not doing breakfast in the restaurant - they moved it to the cafe. This was fine except the one person working there couldn’t even tell us what items were included in the breakfast we had paid for already. With very limited food choices, we just left and went elsewhere.
