Winchester Royal Hotel

The hotel is very central to everything .shopping, cathedral, museums with a great choice of eating places nearby. We had a lovely clean room, large bed and a good size bathroom. The breakfast menu was a self service buffet with plenty of options from cereals to a full cooked breakfast . The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Would definately stay again . I especially liked the outdoor garden area, very pleasant to just sit and relax in.

As we visited on a very hot weekend maybe a couple more parasols in the garden would have provided a few more shaded areas. Other then that we had a very pleasant relaxed stay.

Very nice setting, nice garden, great bar staff, lovely cocktails.

Unfortunately no air conditioning (there was a fan thankfully). No fridge in room either. We stayed at possibly the hottest weekend.

The view to the garden is very pretty and the beds were comfortable. The rooms are nicely decorated. The London Apothecary Products are lovely.

You can hear people walking around on the floor above. The hallways to the rooms have a strong kitchen smell.

We stayed here at the bank holiday. Hotel was tranquil. The staff were very attentive. Location perfect. The bar garden was so relaxing

I'm a regular visitor to Winchester and have used other hotels - thinking The Royal too expensive. But no this is far from the truth, in fact The Royal is comparable with other Winchester hotel prices and certainly offers far better value. It's situated right in the centre of Winchester along a quiet side street - Parchment Street. I had room 105 at the front of the hotel. A huge room, the bathroom had a bath and separate shower, it was magnificent & very quiet. The large garden is a most attractive feature along with it's friendly visiting neighbourhood ginger cat. This beautiful hotel exudes traditional comfort, with a beautiful conservatory breakfast room and comfortable lounge areas. It's spotlessly clean and the staff are caring, friendly and helpful. My future visits will be a stay over in The Royal Hotel. Superb - from a well seasoned hotel stayer.

Location is excellent and the hotel is beautiful

The room I had was in the annex and it was incredibly hot, windows had safety locks on and could not open fully. There was a fan provided in the room but it made little difference, be warned if staying here during the summer as you will not sleep during the night as I did not. Luckily I only stayed one night so was glad to escape the room in the morning.
