Hotel Riu Playacar - All Inclusive

Food was great with lots of options. Rooms were very clean. Family had a great time.

A lovely hotel - which is very easy to navigate. Great staff, nice rooms and lots of food choices. The ONE thing missing is a fully air-con bar - it would have been lovely every now and again to have a cold beer in a bar. But I am being picky!!

overall a good resort. service is good. staff is friendly. wifi is strong. food is overall good. the app is good and if there are any issues they are solved quickly. also lots of chairs and shade around the pools and beach. common issue of people reserving chairs with towels for extended periods of time though. my only complaints is air conditioning in the rooms needs to be stronger. we had it set to 18 Celsius but the room would never reach that. lowest about 23. also Karina who worked at the Asian restaurant, she should smile and be a bit more friendly. You also questioned my daughter when she was serving food. and asked "can i help you" and stood right beside her as if she was stealing or doing something wrong. i'm assuming you thought she just walked in and was helping herself without a table?? but we did have a table. instead just ask her - with a nice tone and smile. "do you have a table??" and if she says yes then just leave her alone.

1 week stay. Mexico exceeded my expectations as did this hotel. Everything was swift upon arrival. The room was spacious for two and on the lower ground which was perfect. We were situated in the middle block, so half way to the pool and half way to reception. The room was cleaned every day. The pool area was nice and we spent most days lounging around here. Service around the pool and beach area was fantastic. Drinks were brough to us! There was the issue with the Sargassum so we didn't use the beach, but this did not ruin our experience. We did a day trip to Isla Mujeres which made up for it. 5th Avenue was about a 30 min walk away - (Slow strides) or 200 pesos which is reasonable. Loved 5th Avenue - Lots of FREE Tequila shots/samples!! Also did a quad biking, Cenote and Zip line booked through venders at the hotel which was another great day out. Opposite the hotel is a small mall and mini markets -with a Starbucks. This was great, and the best thing was there was no pressure to buy anything. The Mexican people are just so nice. Food at the hotel was 10/10. Can not fault anything. We did not have to book for any of the restaurants which was a bonus so we ate at all of them. The Jade and Italian were delicious. We were allowed to use the Riu Tequila and Yucatán, we did visit but liked our hotel more so stayed here. The Gated complex is huge, very clean and felt very luxurious. I just cant fault anything about this stay and I am very fussy. Will definitely be returning.

Like the location of the property near the mall and 5th Avenue. Disliked the sargassum along the beach.

We recently had our symbolic wedding at this hotel and also stayed for a two-week holiday—it was truly amazing. The wedding was beautifully organized, with flawless service and attention to every detail. Throughout our stay, the staff remained incredibly helpful and welcoming. The hotel was spotless, and its central location made it easy to explore the area. We made unforgettable memories here and would highly recommend it for both special occasions and relaxing getaways.

Love this hotel. Good variety of food on the buffet section but loved the a la carte especially the steak house. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Hotel spotless great facilities just a shame about the seaweed on beach and in sea but that’s nature and nothing can be done even though staff are there from 5am trying to clear it and are non stop all day. Will definitely be booking to go back

We went to the steakhouse. We ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer all 5 of us. 3 of us got Caesar salads, one got mozzarella sticks and my daughter got nothing. I told them we never ordered the salads and they said sticks were coming but never showed. 4 of us got the steak and one the chicken. The steaks were full of salt. I love salt but this was not edible. We left a tip on the table and left. Although all inclusive we always tip. We then went to the buffet which there was no problem with. What a waste of food. Breakfast buffet is quite good and many.options. We are usually too full to eat lunch.

Our stay at Riu Playacar was absolutely incredible from start to finish! The all-inclusive experience exceeded our expectations — from delicious food options at every meal to endless drinks and snacks available throughout the day. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had that perfect beachy vibe. What really made the trip special was the outstanding staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Whether it was the front desk, the servers, bartenders, or entertainment team — you could tell they genuinely care about the guests. The night shows are also super fun for the kids and adults.
