"Barcelo Aruba - Royal"

6.0

My wife, our friends, and I recently spent a week at the Barcelo Aruba as Royal Level guests, expecting the premium experience we paid for. Unfortunately, our stay blatantly failed to deliver on that promise. “Royal” is defined as superior in size, magnitude, and quality — a standard that was not met during our stay. The designated Royal Level bar was nothing more than a shed that served drinks, and it closed at 5:00 PM. After that, the only place to access premium drinks was the Royal Room on the 9th floor. We were unable to get premium drinks at the pool bar, the casino, or with dinner at any of the restaurants. For guests paying a premium rate, this felt like a significant limitation. If you wanted a spot on the beach under a tree, you had to get up at 5:00 AM to beat other guests to the preferred locations. The one silver lining was meeting fellow guests who shared this experience — though I can tell you, none of them were happy about waking up that early just to secure a decent spot on the beach. The rooms were average at best, and the photos on the hotel’s website did not accurately reflect the rooms. Breakfast in the Royal Dining Room was yet another area where “Royal” fell short. On two separate mornings, I ordered eggs — one day they took 45 minutes to arrive, the next day 25 minutes. When I asked why the wait was so long, I was told other guests were ahead of me. My honest assessment is that the wait staff was understaffed and doing their best to keep up under difficult circumstances — no fault of their own. At 68 years old, this is the first time I have ever written a review after a vacation. I am not requesting anything free or seeking any form of compensation. I am simply sharing my honest experience in the hope that future guests can make a more informed decision, and that the hotel takes this feedback as an opportunity to live up to the “Royal” standard it promises. In closing, I would like to say that from the moment you walk through the front door, your entire staff understands what hospitality and friendliness are. That aspect of business is usually the most difficult to maintain. Not having to defend the shortcomings that they have no control over would make their jobs easier and less stressful. Dan M.

"Uncomfortable"

5.0

Unfortunately disappointed. I was in room 2102 and I found a sandal plus other staff under my bed…. That make us very upset!

The problems in the beach Not enough places to rest… and before 6pm all have to be pick up no chance to relax with the sunset.

"Royal Level Upgrade"

8.0

I'm not one to do these type of reviews, but I wanted to share about the service I had at the Barcelo Aruba. In particular, The Royal level, which is an upgrade at Booking, was well worth it. When I stayed there, the service at the Royal level restaurant was just spectacular, and in particular, a young man named Trevor. Of course I also want to mention George (classy & elegant), Jairo (great, super cordial, and efficient server), and Misael (super attentive server) who are a part of a great team - I ate there several times during my stay. Trevor, though, was such a bright and happy young man in whom I see great potential. He seemed so willing to be helpful and accommodating while presenting himself as a positive and personal server. I am sure he is a positive asset to the team in the Royal Level at the Barcelo Aruba as they, more than any other servers, made our stay as satisfactory as it was!!!

"Amazing"

Barcelo was right in a perfect location. It was directly on the beach. It was walkable to shops and other beaches. The royal level is worth the upgrade.

Nothing. We will be back.

I came in with low expectations since i had been here before. i added one more star this time. we upgraded to ocean front room and it's worth the extra money. food is just ok. mexican restaurant was my least favorite. i liked the hibachi and italian. breakfast and lunch is just mediocre. the beach bar at royal level is amazing. the pool is good but the music isn't. too much slow country songs. the bed is just ok. most staff did great. lisette (not sure spelling) francisco. the lobby waitresses in bar are fantastic. The royal restaurant waiters, Hiro but i can't remember the other ones name. it's a good deal for location and all inclusive.
