Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot

We loved our stay there and will likely make it our new base when visiting the cities.

(11/11-14/2024) a 3 night stay for a work conference/expo held in the venues on premises (AIA-MN). I traveled solo on behalf of my company, my third time in Minneapolis in 12 months but first stay at this hotel. As an exhibitor at the conference and as a Marriott Bonvoy I didn’t think much about a simple note I’d added about being a “1st time guest” who “loves historic buildings” when reserving my room. When I checked in on Monday evening, Alyssa (5*****!) at the reception desk was so welcoming and, upon confirming my reservation, added simply “ I hope you enjoy your stay with us”. The route to room #296 (Missoula Suite) was long and winding, but the reward was an amazing corner “historic suite” in the 1899 Depot, overlooking the 3rd/Washington corner. I LOVED my 3 nights in this spacious, daylight gem of a room. The decor leans “historic” so there’s a quirky charm to the suite (and that small portion of the property). As I learned through wandering, most of the hotel is actually modern 21st century rooms… only the handful of suites in the 290s and 490s are in the 125 year old restored Depot. Besides the great bed, huge sitting room, fast WiFi and massive bathroom (all so unnecessary but much appreciated for a solo business trip!), I also found the historic photos, advertising and stock certificates to be fascinating. For the history buff, also check out the conference spaces and the collection of railroad memorabilia in the hallways near the pool & fitness room. Didn’t try the restaurant (wandered and found other restaurants nearby), but enjoyed the sitting area near the bar for watching basketball. A great stay and a place I look forward to revisiting my next trip to Minneapolis!

Stay was okay

My stay was immaculate. This hotel has a ton of history and was beautiful. Service was amazing and was very clean! Right when you walk into the lobby it smells soooo good. I will be staying here in the future. Thank you!

Great all around

Wonderful check in experience. Great room, wonderful bar and loved the breakfast buffet!

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Only thing I would ask for is a little more light in the room. It was hard for us to dig through bags, find items, get ready when our room was so dim. When we get older dim lighting makes it hard to read/see things sometimes. Beds were super comfy!
