"Visiting Zacatecas"

8.0

Overall it was a good experience. It is a small hotel with charm. It is close enough to walk to but far enough from downtown for quietness. This hotel does NOT have an elevator so it might be a good thing or a bad thing. I liked the exercise, however, there were times when I was soo tired I wished it had one.

"Perfect location and amazing service!"

8.0

It is always hard to find a nice hotel that is situated in the heart if town and is relatively inexpensive. This hotel was both. Situated right in the heart of the beautiful and colonial city center, this hotel was cozy, clean, had excellent service, and was just overall great. The only downfall is that being in the city center you do hear a lot of noise early in the morning (which is a very small price to pay for everything else it has to offer). There is no ac but it is completely unnecessary since even in the summer it is a very cold city. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. There is always bottle waters in the room! We where looking forward to the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom but the bubble jets didn't work, but other than that I was happy we even had a bathtub! Overall a great hotel for the price and most of all location!

"Not our choice, but their other hotel was closed"

6.0

Originally we had booked another hotel by the owners throug Booking.com. When we got there the hotel was closed and they took us to this hotel. We had a choice of rooms and choosed a kind of suite on the top floor with a large terrace. When watching the other rooms we found that a lot of them had very little light. When we got there we found that one of the cleaners had left a hairbrush in the bathroom. We had a fridge and coffeemaker. The continental breakfast was very minimal. The only bread there was to make toast from. There was not tea, just coffee. As the owners were afraid we would write a bad critics after what had happened with the other hotel(we did make a complaint at Booking.com) they tried to make our stay as pleasant as they could. They even lend us a laptop to take to the room. When we left they gave us a voucher for one free night in either of the two hotels to spend within the next 12 months. For me this seemed like a ridiculous compensation because it is not very likely that someone from Holland will visit Zacatecas twice within one year.

"Zacatecas Bike Week/ NO AC/POOR SERVICE"

4.0

There was no a/c, I requested a fan, they never brought one. Same with the TV and blower dryer, they didn't work. Requested service several times, they never did a thing. On the plus side, the sheets were very clean and smelled wonderful. We were with 4 other couples and they all had problems too and no one ever provided service.

"Wonderful place, great location and value!"

8.0

We spend three nights during the "Festival Cultural Zacatecas" with our two kids. We just fell in love with the hotel. Nice, cozy and we adopted it as our own country home in no time. We expected that a very old building could be capricious and not a beach resort style. Thanks to Trip Advisor comments, we asked for a room away from the lobby atrium which is actually noisy, the hot water is always available at "usual" hours but when we planned to take a bath at evenings, ¡we asked to turn on the boiler!. Far from disturbing us it felt like we were invited to a family country home. The girl at the front desk was nice and gave us great tips to visit the city. We are planning to return to Zacatecas and we definitively consider La Casona to stay.

"Such a Disappointment"

2.0

La Casona de los Vitrales is in a beautifully restored building in a very convenient, perhaps the best, location in Zacatecas. Unfortunately, the restoration using beautiful Mexican tiles on walls and floors and the design of a two-floor atrium lobby did not take into account noise. In my second-floor room, I could hear the television from the lobby and the conversations of people at the check-in desk. No consideration was given to the time of day or night when these were going on. At night I heard conversations until after 2 a.m. In the mornings, beginning at 8:30 a.m., children were running around the lobby. The staff made no attempt to control this. In addition to the problem of noise, there was no hot water. I told one person at the front desk and he said it would be fixed. When the problem continued, I said something again. This time I was told to run the water a long time. Zacatecas and other Mexican desert towns have a water shortage. I felt terrible to have to run the water extra long in order to take a hot shower. Despite appearances, this was one of the most irritating hotels I have ever stayed at. Though I had booked six nights, I left after three.
