Mercure Catania Excelsior

Great hotel for Catania city break, superb location. A slight walk in but perfectably do-able. Breakfast was very nice and included in the room. Only negative was that some noise did travel from the room next door, but I am not sure to be honest if this is because they had their television on very loudly or the walls were thin. We stayed for 1 night before heading back to London so was perfect to drop bags off and wander around Catania in the afternoon/evening.

It was wonderful. They even had pastries and coffee,juice at the redeption desk at 4:30 am.

Worst location. No place to park to load or unload baggage.no one to help. Hotel filthy. Stuck in elevator that broke down for 5minutes. Would never go back!!

As a frequent traveller I am now so accustomed to free Wi-Fi that I will choose one hotel over the other because of this. Hopefully the more remote corners of Europe will wake up to the modern travellers demands.

Staff was outstanding. Hotel needs a facelift. Very tired.

I always stay at this hotel when I come to Catania. The downtown area (the markets, good shopping and business district) is walkable from here. The staff is friendly and the value is terrific.

OK but hotel needs a quick makeover. Wallpaper is peeling in bathroom. Mold in tub area. Also I found it unusual that there is a charge for wireless. The hotel is otherwise very classy and beutiful place. The evening bartender was outstanding.

I could not ask for more . Arrived late evening and all the hotel team could not have been more helpfull. Upon leaving I left a bag and it was returned to me . A great comfortable hotel . If I had a complain was the wifi charge . Which these days should be free like most hotels . But otherwise would recommend this hotel highly .

During our weekly stay in Sicily we stayed in four different hotels, this one was the best value and by far the most comfortable. It has atmosphere and style. The outside decor of the building is disappointing but as soon you are in, it is stylish and yet practical. The beds and bedlinen were superb, as well as toileteries. The wallpaper peeled off in few places in the room but it did not spoil it for us. Despite it's central (busy) location it was quiet, and airconditioned. Turkish sauna and a gym are free and have a great view over the city. I did not check the availability of the WIFI but the breakfast was very pleasant and a range of coffees were available on request. We were very pleased with the hotel and would stay there again.

Fantastic room on the top floor, with a view of Etna. Needs a bit of TLC, but as long as you are happy with old charm you will love it
