Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa

Very nice hotel. Great that it had a gym and spa. Grounds very also very nice and comfy bed.

We were disappointed with a recent stay at this hotel. Our weekend trip was bought as a 50th birthday present and as working parents we were really looking forward to a relaxing spa break at your 4star hotel. Our room was upgraded to a suite which was very nice and the food was also good. However the spa was very disappointing, small neglected sauna and the steam room was nothing like I have seen before! First of all there wasn’t much steam at all and the seats were plastic like the ones that you get in a football stadium. Our massages were nothing special especially my partners were opted for Fit for Business which is stated to be a deep tissue but more like a soft moisturise. At breakfast there was only one out of four coffee machines working so there was a long queue. Our dinner was booked for 18:45 and they had already run out of the Lamb Rump steak. The whole hotel is in need of updating. Even down to the buttons of the lift were in the wrong place so staff had wrote the floor numbers on pieces of paper and stuck them on. Having visited many Q hotels, this one, I’m sorry to say this was bad!

Alana was fantastic! She was very friendly & welcoming. The massage was one of the best back massages I’ve had in ages. I would highly recommend the professional and relaxing atmosphere.

Our experience was very good. However we arrived at 2am having been up and about for 22.5 hours. It was lovely that the hotel was open and lit I had been afraid it would be locked and difficult to contact anyone for entry. However our welcome was lacklustre, we were not told where breakfast was in the morning and our room was 329 (2nd floor up and out of the way). We were only told down this corridor to the lift then follow the signs. Bearing in mind we were such a late arrival which I had advised you of, and the fact that I was very tired having been up so long and driven from Luton, it would have been pleasant to have been assisted more.

Our stay at the Cambridge Belfry exceeded my expectations. I was looking forward to a pleasant weekend, but it turned out to be much better than that. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but I expected that. The staff. were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant was excellent, both the quality of the food and the service. The bank of EV charges was a very pleasant surprise and made the stay so much easier.

We stayed in Ely (Penthouse King’s suite) for one night as a birthday treat for my beautiful soul mate. The room was lovely at first glance, but there were issues that marred our stay. The suite lobby had a W/C that wouldn’t flush properly so was out of action during our stay. The TV in the bedroom also had a problem which was reported to reception but maintenance isn’t 24hr so was told it couldn’t be fixed during our stay. The left hand mirror light in the ensuite was faulty, and the grouting around some of the tiling in the main bathroom looked a bit tired. Only one lift goes to the penthouses and upon leaving our room the lift seemed stuck at ground level. So we humped our luggage downstairs to find staff were holding the lift at ground level. On the plus side the reception staff were very pleasant to deal with, the restaurant was definitely above average, and the bed was very large and very comfortable.

Spacious room outside Cambridge that was 10-15min drive to the park & ride and West site Cambridge STEM campus. Ideal for an open day visit as parking was free at this hotel and we didn't fancy driving in central Cambridge. I used the swimming pool in the hotel which was a good size and open from 6.30am. the breakfast was plentiful and buffet style.

We had the intention of using the spa and facilities but we were put off with children having swimming lessons. It was not a relaxing experience. We understand from a business point of view, why the hotel rents out the pool for swimming lessons - but for a nice relaxing spa experience it should not be advertised as such. Been to better hotels with spas. Would not recommend.

Stayed here the night before my wedding (which was nearby but not at the Belfry) in August. Then we had a function / high-tea / cream-tea for our immediate families the day after the wedding as well, so the team helped us arrange and hire a curtained off function room space in the bar area. We couldn't have asked the team at the Belfry for more to sort all this out, they were all lovely and provided great customer service over a long period of time in the run up while we sorted myself, and our guests out. The hotel was a really nice base for all our family and friends who had travelled down. Decent buffet breakfast the morning of my wedding. Even though , being honest, I was slightly too nervous to eat too much from it. The quality of the rooms was great, and they provided a great space to get ready in the morning with my wedding party. The bar was also an excellent place to chill out with my groomsmen and family the night before, and as a place for us all to gather for cream tea, the day after this was equally nice. We'd especially like to thank the waiting and hospitality staff on Saturday, 23rd August, who were, without exception, all really lovely and professional: a real credit to the hotel and restaurant.
