"It was comforting"

9.0

There were two rooms in one room. Staff was very polite and the place was clean breakfast was good.

I felt like just walking around in the room normally it shook the bathroom door and I kept having to tell the kids to walk slow cause I thought we were going to get in trouble, but we werenโ€™t even doing anything but I felt like it because of the door shaking and kinda loud

"I would check to see if property has been updated."

4.0

Breakfast was fine bagels were hard

Furniture was very worn and used. Construction was ongoing and had we known that we wouldn't have stayed there. Also construction workers must have hit something to make fire alarm go off.

"Don't stay here until construction is finished!"

4.0

Hotel was under major construction and the hallways and our room smelled like solvents. The odor was so strong we slept with the windows open all night in October. Better to be cold than wake up with a headache from the fumes. Make sure they are done before you book a room, they won't tell you if you don't ask! We booked the room the day before and called the hotel directly. No mention was made of the major construction when we made the reservation. It was evening when we arrived and we had been driving all day, so we really didn't have the option to find another place to stay. We have stayed there several times before and without construction it is a nice hotel, with a great waking path right behind the property.

"Exceptional Service"

10.0

We were supposed to stay at a different Marriott property but had a terrible experience so Bonvoy customer service stepped in and set up our reservation at this hotel. The kindness of Dalaina, Alissa, and Drew was exactly what we needed (not to leave out the housekeeping staff and maintenance). We even extended our stay. They are doing a renovation but it did not affect our stay. At check out we had the pleasure of meeting the GM Matthew. Truly a special experience. Thank you!!

"Another Perspective"

6.0

To compare this to Towneplace Suites in Coeur dโ€™Alene is unfair. That is a new property. This one is older. I believe we stayed here with small children just after it opened, which would have been about 1995. We stayed in a renovated room. The renovation is hit and miss. It canโ€™t make it a new property. Having just stayed in Coeur dโ€™Alene (2 weeks ago) I appreciated the ducted air conditioning as opposed to the window unit there. I also appreciated the extra closet space and layout that gives one at least the illusion of some privacy in the studio suite. The lighting is definitely low wattage, although our bulbs (I checked after reading the previous review) were all LED. I used to travel with a 100w incandescent bulb. I may have to pack a higher wattage bulb with me again. ๐Ÿ˜Š

"Worst Residence Inn we've ever stayed in - and we really like Residence Inns!"

6.0

We've stayed at a LOT of Residence Inns, and this one was sadly the worst. Disclaimer: It's currently undergoing a pretty major renovation...maybe it will be better in a few months. First, the good: 1. The bathroom tub and toilet were spotless. (Thank you, Housekeeping Team). 2. The breakfast was good. 3. The 2-burner electric stove worked well. Now, the less good: 1. Customer "service" was pretty non-existent, except from the above-mentioned housekeeping team, which was helpful each time I stopped them in the hallway for something. As a frequent Marriott and Residence Inn customer, I am used to a standard of service that is friendly and helpful, and where I am not made to feel like I am a bother for having a basic request...like asking for a few lightbulbs for the lamp that had none. When I asked, the associate frowned and looked super irritated that I had a request. When I let that same associate know that the (non-working) firepit had a very strong smell of gas, (wouldn't you want to know if it was your hotel?), she was immediately dismissive and told me "That firepit hasn't been working in months." and showed zero curiosity or interest around this potential safety hazard. When I insisted that it was really strong, she muttered that she would "let maintenance know" and went about her business of ignoring me. I had at least one or two other interactions with this associate (she was the main person during our stay). and they pretty much had the same vibe each time. 2. Speaking of not feeling welcomed... the front desk basically had a walled-in bullpen behind it, and IF the associate was ever at the desk (we were there for 4 days and more than 70% of the time there was no one at the front desk at all), she would be back there (where you could barely see her), further making it feel like you were a total bother to have a basic request. (see picture). This, combined with the frowns, made it feel like a very unwelcoming experience. 3. Our room. Though we were in an updated room, relative to other Residence Inns, it felt quite cramped, and it was missing basic amenities, like lightbulbs for the lamp (see above), or a toaster. When we asked for a toaster, we were told there wasn't one. The "updated" cabinets were simply cheaply painted over cabinets with no hardware. It felt rushed and cheap, despite being "new." The stove and the dishwasher worked fine at least, but seemed to have stepped out of 1985, adding to the cheap vibe. We had purchased coffee to make in the room, but the coffee pot was a single serve version that required hotel-provided pods. And there was wasn't a knife block or even a drawer space for the dull steak knives. They were just placed in the cabinet in front of the plates. It was all just...underwhelming. And the lighting! Aside from the fact that the lamp was missing lightbulbs (it was supposed to have 3, we were only ever able to get one), and another light wasn't working at all, the lighting was some of the worst we've ever experienced. It was fluorescent and depressing in the worst way. And even if we'd had the proper amount of lightbulbs, it still would have been terrible. The room was so depressing in general, and especially at night. 4. If you are in a wheelchair, do not stay at this hotel. There literally is no handicapped accessible entrance anywhere that we could see, and certainly not at the main entrance. (Is that what the law allows in Washington?) In closing, as pretty big Residence Inn fans, our advice is to keep looking for something better if you find yourself in this area. (And if you are able to stay a little further east, in Coeur D'Alene - we highly recommend the Towneplace Suites, which is amazing). Maybe once the renovation is complete it will be a better experience, but as of July 2025, we absolutely would not recommend it.
