Argo Hotel

I don't understand why Argo Anita is described as quiet - it's not. The cleaners/maids start their rounds at 6am, and the result is banging doors and the distinct sound of people tidying and cleaning other rooms and the hallways. Also, the balcony door offers no protection from the sounds of traffic and people working with drills and hammers, etc. Take earplugs. However, I got a twin room for about £30 a day, the sheets and towels were replaced while I was out (except on one occasion), floors were mopped and swept, and while a lot of the staff were business-like, and one maid was clearly annoyed when she was cleaning my room while I sat on the balcony (I had to go and find her one day), a couple of the maids were very friendly. A half-hour walk takes you past the Piraeus yacht harbour and to the spectacular views from above and on the pebbly and rocky beach. Coffee and sandwich shops are a short walk from the hotel, and the harbour-side hypermarket is just 20 minutes from the hotel. The ancient monuments, like the Acropolis are an inexpensive taxi ride away, in the centre of Athens. The airport, however, is an hour's drive away: expect to pay 55 Euros for a taxi to Athens International. For value, and a nice balcony, I happily give the Argo Anita four stars out of five. Like most Continental hotels, don't expect tea and coffee-making facilities (cups, kettle, sachets of beverages, etc). Oh, and the air conditioning is superb. A frosty cool room in minutes, if you wish, after a hot day on the beach or sightseeing.

Amazing location. The accommodation seems to be fairly silent. No smoking permitted which is noticeable in an actual smoking-free accommodation.

I stayed here last year the night before my ferry to Sifnos and the Argo Anita is much as I remember it, though perhaps even a bit better. Friendly welcome. Small room which you have to slide past the end of the bed to get to to the little balcony with no view to speak of. No fridge and only a single power socket. Bedside cabinet and reading light over the bed. A small shower and only one power socket but all you need for an overnight stay just 10 mins walk straight down to the ferry terminals E7 and E8. There is an AB City Supermarket 5 minutes walk down the hill towards the ferry terminals though it is closed Sundays. There is a corner kiosk open all hours just before that. They offer a 10% discount if you book directly. You can get off the X96 bus one or two stops before the final stop at the ferry terminal to save yourself some of the uphill walk.

They refused to cancel our booking, we called early in the morning to explain there is a strike in Paros and there is no boat to come in Pyraeus. They don't care... They could accept to cancel our reservation

There was no fridge in the room, the bathroom was ridiculously small, the shower gel was a bit doubtful, there was no soap... We also had a room right in front of the hotel’s sign. It was lit all night along! We barely could sleep. Luckily we only stay 1 night in this hotel. The only benefit of this hotel is I guess the location of you’re planning on taking the ferry the next day early in the morning. Otherwise, not worth it !

Good Location

Great location for those getting off the X96 bus from the airport. Very friendly staff, always absolutely clean and the beds are very comfy. We always feel welcome here. Also, it's very close to the port of Piraeus if you traveling on by sea.

Very very close to Piraeus Port, good location. Room decently clean, great value for money for a short stay. 10 minutes walk to Gate 8 at Piraeus port. 24 hour reception, free WiFi and AirCon in rooms

Just 5 minutes walk from gate 8 of the port (use the N.A.T. bus stop if coming from the airport) this very reasonably priced hotel has everything you need for a short stay. The staff were very helpful when I contacted them with a problem before my arrival, and were friendly and efficient while I was there. All spoke good English, and one carried my bag to the (small) lift. They made you feel very welcome. I was in a small room at the back. There were clean cotton sheets, spare pillows, efficient aircon and a TV. Bathroom was small but clean - lots of hot water and a hairdryer. A dispenser of liquid soap/shower gel was available, but you are better off bringing your own. Wifi worked very well. There is a breakfast room, and the list of breakfast options seemed as good as you usually find in hotels of this sort, although I didn't have time to stay because I was catching an early boat. Other amenities in he hotel were limited - it's not designed for luxury long-stay holidays. I've stayed in lots of cheap hotels in Piraeus when all you want is a clean, cheap, convenient place to get a good night's sleep, and this is one of my favourites.

Perfect place to stay before ferry or if you are visiting Piraeus. Very helpful staff, sent a driver to meet us at the airport, issue tickets for ferry, brought us in the morning to the ferry (Very close). Clean, comfortable room. Highly recommend!
