The Estes Park Resort

King room with view of lake was $560/night (inc tax). this was for a first floor room which we do not recommend (patio has a high wall requiring barstool type chairs (tall) which were uncomfortable. Patio was within 10 feet one one walk path and 16 ft of another. Hello neighbor!) Room was good. fake fireplace was lit by a bulb (weird). through the wall HVAC kept turning off on us in the middle of the night. (ok, that might be user error). bathroom was nice but they only give you one hand towel? they don't do daily housekeeping unless you ask for it. We stayed 5 nights but only asked for housekeeping once (refresh only, not a full clean) - they didn't get that right. Internet is wireless only and is an embarrassment. First they said was only due to the number of guests logging on (never lie to a techie). then they said was a router error and was reset. went from totallly sucky to marginal, but hey we were here for the mountains, right. good thing, as the tv was (you guessed it) streaming and impossible to watch. hotel right next to a marina (lot of rentals) and a lot of kids in the water. Lake is stocked and lots of fishermen. Ember restaurant - food was very good. Service was very good. one afternoon, wife and I ordered a glass of wine to relax watching the lake and mountains. I ordered a moderate wine I drink often, i don't know what they served me but it was not the wine i ordered. I was going to call them on it when I got the stink eye from my wife and decided to chose my battles. resort is ten minute drive into Estes, or about a 15 minute walk along paved path. we drove to visitor center (free parking) and took the free shuttles. Estes is a small town - it is mobbed on the weekends, but even on weekdays parking is very limited.

Stay was great with my wife and two kids (aged 15 and 8 years old). Located next to Lake Estes, our stay was very comfortable with breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. you can choose to have your meals in the in-house restaurant or at one of the many eateries in town. (Estes Park town is a short 5 minute drive away).

The staff was so kind and helpful, both at the spa and recommendations of trips and dining.

The resort is in a great location. We loved Estes Park. The hotel rooms were large and had great views.

The good - Front desk people were great! Ember was fantastic but still overpriced. Not so Good - Grounds and exterior of resort are not maintained very well, if at all. Room service trays outside of multiple rooms all day without being collected. When requesting extra washcloths from housekeeping lady outside our room, she only had 2 washcloths on her cart and didn't offer to bring us any later. Cobwebs all over the deck. For $600 a night, this resort should be a well oiled machine, but is not.
