I stayed due to work. There was a large amount of displayed persons due to flood

First I'll start with....YUCK! I walked and immediately felt the nastiness of the place. It reeked! Trash everywhere, ac busted so it was hot in the lobby. The breakfast bar area looked dirty. Walked upstairs to our room and opened it to get hit with an even more disgusting smell than the lobby and boy was it strong, so strong I got a migraine from it. There was old food left in microwave, trash under the dusty bed, the coffee maker looked like it hadn't been washed in decades, toilet was stained, carpet was so dirty I didn't take my shoes off, the bed was hard as wood, there was only like 5 channels, broken ice machine, I mean come on bro! After 30 minutes I couldn't hack it any longer, I took the kiddos and headed out! Told the receptionist the room was filthy and I wanted to check out- she replied with "oh I'll have someone clean it real quick",,,,, um no it should've been cleaned prior to my arrival. The owner needs to upgrade and renovate. Spend the extra cash and go elsewhere. You've been warned!

Great experience! Clean room, friendly staff, good continental breakfast. Stores and gas stations close by.

the whole hotel smelled cigarrettes

Thanks for the opportunity to share our experiences at this property. It must be a popular place judging by the amount of dirt on the reception room floor and hallways. Our room did not match the photos submitted to advertise the hotel. The bedspreads had numerous cigarette burns in them, and the photos portrayed a much cleaner room. Our non-smoking room smelled of smoke, and other unidentifiable odors. The microwave was full of someone’s splattered dinner, and the refrigerator was topped with a healthy rust coat. The fridge did keep our bottle of water cold though. Down the hall the soda machines were both broken. The ice machine was broken. The management did have a bag of ice, purchased from the gas station next door, and they generously allotted a few cubes when asked. Fortunately we brought calamine lotion with us so we could sooth the numerous bug bites we received after spending a night in the questionably cleaned beds. At breakfast, the juice machine offered a choice of oily smelling, watered down orange drink or ‘broke’. The coffee container was empty. The cereal offered stale fruit loops. The waffle mix smelled fermented. There was a toaster, however, and fortunately a piece from a loaf of stale loaf of bread could be toasted. Another wonderful stay at a Howard Johnsons!

The Hotel is great, good service, clean, and confortable. I will stay again.

This was an overnight stay but would have been tickled to death to have stayed here longer. Check-in was easiest ever. You'd have to be impossible to please to complain about this place.

Clean , very nice staff & nice room with basic cable. But far as that still a good & reasonable hotel to stay in.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Easy drive to Rutherford Beach and staff was extremely accommodating. Room was very clean, nothing fancy, but quiet and comfortable. Will stay again next trip to Louisiana Gulf.
