Review for SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chicago Schaumburg/Woodfield Mall 1550 McConnor Parkway, Schaumburg, IL 60173 We had one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever encountered at this property. Mattress Quality & Sleep Issues: On the first night, we were assigned two different rooms. Both rooms had king mattresses that were badly worn out and showed visible deterioration, with deep divots on each side and a raised hump in the middle. The springs pressed directly into our backs and hips, causing pain and discomfort. When I tried to show the front desk a photo of the first mattress, the staff member dismissed me and refused to even look. Neither my wife nor I slept that night; we both had hip and back pain, and I experienced numbness in my legs and hands from the coils digging in. Adding to that first night’s misery, groups of young people ran through the halls, slamming doors and making noise late into the night. The front desk excused it as "musicians with chaperones," but still placed us—two sixty-year-olds—on that floor. On the second night, we were reassigned to a third room across from the elevator. While it was somewhat quieter, the mattress quality remained poor, and we still could not sleep comfortably. Condition of Rooms: All of the rooms we saw were heavily worn and poorly maintained. Based on what we observed, housekeeping and maintenance standards are not being upheld. The lamp shades had tears and visible wear. The tile and caulking in the bathroom showed cracking and poor patchwork. The furniture was scratched, chipped, and in overall poor condition. Because of the state of the rooms, we did not feel comfortable sitting on the couches or upholstered furniture. Customer Service: At no point did the staff offer an apology, compensation, or any real attempt to make things right. The dismissive attitude of the front desk, combined with a lack of empathy, made a bad situation even worse. Overall: This property does not live up to Marriott standards. Between the un-sleepable beds, unacceptable room conditions, and lack of customer service, this was an extremely disappointing stay. The 4.3-star rating currently shown online is disingenuous—how this hotel could receive such high reviews is a mystery. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel.
