"Great food and great service"

10.0

Had a wonderful lunch experience at Johnstown Hotel! The food was absolutely gorgeous, and when I requested a table with a socket, it was no problem at all. My meal arrived promptly and piping hot, and my waiter, Nixon, was exceptionally helpful, attentive, and professional. Thank you, Nixon, for making it such an enjoyable experience!

"Nice but has to sort a few things out"

6.0

First the negative, as I like to finish on positives! The food in the bar is poor. There is 1 all day menu so if you’re staying for 2 nights as we did, you’re ordering 3 meals from the same menu. Their booking system is very poor. The staff refused to let my mother and father sit at the table beside ours but then another woman (on her own) set herself down at the table and nothing was said to her. They also wouldn’t accommodate us moving our dinner reservation back by 30 minutes from 6:30pm to 7pm - so overall a complete lack of flexibility and common sense. The hotel is also without doubt the hottest hotel I have ever been in! We were all absolutely roasting the entire time. The rooms and common areas are definitely in need of a fresh coat of paint as there’s a lot of scuff marks everywhere. The gym is a bit of a nightmare in that it’s packed with late teens/early 20’s lads who bang and slam weights that are clearly too heavy for them to control. Finally, the windows are very thin in the rooms and the houses. The motorway is quite audible all day and night so if you’re a light sleeper that could be a problem. Now for the positives - while a small number of the bar staff were unaccommodating (as mentioned above) a lot of them were brilliant. We were served by Nixon and Jillian and they were simply magnificent. They couldn’t do enough for our large party of guests. They never let our drinks run low or had us waiting on anything. The pool is great. It’s lovely and warm and there’s a jacuzzi inside and one outside. There’s also a thermal area which is super too. The only negative is that none of the showers had shower gel/shampoo (they were all empty). There are EV 2 charger points (and loads for Teslas too) which are DC so your car is charged so fast and it’s free, which I’ve never seen at any note before and was a huge plus. Overall, 3 out of 5. With some small changes this hotel would be magnificent.

"Big hat no cattle unfortunately"

2.0

Big hat no cattle unfortunately. All, and I mean all, irish staff rude, one very helpful and professional Eastern European young lady. No welcome at reception, busy tapping away on his phone. We left in disgust and went to The Station House in Kilmessan (first time) where we had probably the best meal, and best service, anywhere - absolutely five star.

"Everything you need for a small family break!"

8.0

So convenient with a small family! The lodges are well equipped - kitchen has everything you need and loved the extra touch of dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods and washing up liquid! Two good sized rooms and modern bathrooms! Hotel facilities were brilliant, and every staff member we met was so lovely and helpful!

Very minor but our stairs were sooo creaky and loud. With a toddler and a baby sleeping - it was a gamble going up and down the stairs! Found some broken glass on the rug in the living area (while 8 month old was on it) - but I guess that would happen in accommodation. Bed in double room was so hard, but the twin room had mattress toppers which made it much nicer. Didn’t ask for more for the double bed but if we were staying longer I would have. All in all, very minor inconveniences!

"Amazing hotel!"

10.0

Amazing hotel. I stayed there over the weekend and it was such a lovely experience. No surprise that most of the reviews mention how friendly and professional all the staff were! So approachable they went above and beyond, you just know they love working there. Will definitely be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
