"Coach Bar"

Had a great dinner in The Coach Bar for a family birthday, the food was great and the service was amazing especially from Nixon who went above and beyond. We will definitely be back.

The dining experience in the Coach House was so good . We had the loveliest guy look after us for both lunch and dinner . Nixon was so nice and looked after us so entenivly. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back .

Lodges are pet friendly.

On 26 December 2025 when we arrived to check in, the hotel was effectively closed: There was no staff available to check us in at reception and the door was locked. We rang the doorbell repeatedly while waiting outside. We could see staff inside, but the door was not opened. After waiting, we returned to the car and began driving home. Only then did my phone ring and a staff member asked us to return. On our return, we were still not properly admitted and were checked in through a partially opened window.

"AVOID - great hotel… so long as you don’t have a flood in your room then forget about it."

I stayed here recently for a family wedding and had booked two nights. While the wedding itself was great, the hotel experience was genuinely awful. On the first night, at around 6:30am, I was woken by a large volume of water flooding into the room from the ceiling. It was as if someone had left a bath or tap running in the room above. The amount of water was extremely worrying, and the constant dripping into the hallway of the room made it impossible to sleep. I reported this to the night staff, who asked if I wanted to change rooms. At that point my partner was asleep, it was very early, and I was hoping it was a one-off issue, so I declined. The water stopped briefly but left a significant flood in the room. I had to mop it up myself using hotel towels, with broken sleep in the middle of the night. Less than 40 minutes later, the exact same thing happened again. At that stage, around 7am, we had no choice but to move rooms. After such a terrible night, we decided to cancel the second night of our stay as we couldn’t enjoy the weekend or trust that the same issue wouldn’t happen again. When speaking with the manager, I was told I technically wasn’t entitled to a refund and that he’d need to check with accounts. I was later assured I would be refunded. It has now been 10 days, I’ve had to chase this twice, and there is still no refund or clear communication. I also have full video evidence of the flooding. For a hotel hosting wedding guests, this was completely unacceptable — both the incident itself and the poor follow-up afterwards. Mistakes can happen, but how they’re handled matters, and unfortunately this was handled very poorly.

"Lovely time"

My boyfriend and I went on Saturday for an overnight stay and it was so nice. First off all every single staff member in the building was so lovely and approachable and were willing to help at any time. Room was so clean and beds were so comfortable. We had dinner in fire and salt restaurant and it was lovely as well as breakfast the next morning which was really nice. I would definitely recommend booking the thermal spa and rooftop experience that’s available as it is really nice and has really nice features. We had a great time and would definitely recommend x

"A glass front door on the lodge with no curtains or blinds"

We stayed over New Year’s. Unfortunately, I won’t be back. Reception Reception called me on the morning of check-in, but I missed the call. When I returned the call, the staff member who answered had no idea why I was contacted. They suggested it might be related to a voucher, which was not applicable to us at all. The conversation was too disorganised for me to get any clear information. I recognised they might have been busy, so I said I would call back later. I tried calling back later on multiple occasions but was unable to get through, as they were completely uncontactable. I wanted to verify that everything was okay with the booking (as they had called me), before leaving the house, but the phone was not answered. I also sent an email, which was not responded to. I did speak to someone from another department who was very nice but could not transfer me as reception wouldn't answer the phone. Reception staff, however, were very efficient and pleasant at check-in. The Lodge We stayed in the lodges and had booked an executive, pet-friendly lodge. It was advertised as luxury, but the downstairs living area was very basic. Netflix and Wi-Fi were purposefully disabled on the TV, which is not a guest-friendly move. A Nespresso machine was provided, but there were no capsules. There was no fireplace, despite fireplaces being shown in the photos advertising the lodge. I understand that not all lodges may have one, but it was still disappointing when they are featured in the promotional images. The bedrooms were done well and had nice carpeting. The bathrooms both downstairs and upstairs were okay but did not feel inviting. There was no TV in the bedrooms, only downstairs, which was another disappointment. Lack of Quiet and Privacy The lodge had a glass front door, which meant we could hear every noise outside, and there was also a draft in the inside area by the door. There were no curtains or blinds on the door, which was ridiculous, as this would have been easily done and would have made the glass front door far less of an issue. We felt this reduced our level of privacy. The lodge was located right beside a highway, so it was incredibly noisy all night, with the constant whooshing of cars. There were organised fireworks, which seemed to be related to the hotel (maybe a wedding?), in fairness, didn’t last too long, but I wish this had been mentioned. We brought our dog with the intention of having some quiet, so a heads-up would have been appreciated. Housekeeping The lodge was very clean, so no issues there. Well done to housekeeping, as it is not easy to keep lodges so clean. Overall Experience We were extremely stressed by the overall experience and had very little sleep due to the noise and lack of privacy. Because of this, we didn’t bother with our spa/thermal appointments or breakfast, which I’m sure would have been lovely. We couldn’t wait to go home.
