Middlebury Inn

Their staff works together like clock work. They run it like it’s their own home. They take great pride in welcoming you to the Middlebury area. It is a very historic structure with time tested stories to tell.

Middlebury Inn is a lovely old inn set in a college town in the lovely green mountains, with excellent service. We stay here as it is a convenient place while we visit family in the area. The original part of the inn is beautiful. We've stayed in 2 different rooms our past 2 visits in the annex where dogs are allowed for a reasonable $25/night. unfortunately, the cleanliness these rooms was not up to the rest of the inn's standards and need a good refreshing of rugs and couches, our only reason for a lower rating. We will, regardless return.

Excellent service, warm and cozy atmosphere, great location, restaurant is good, and the Thursday evening jazz duo was a treat!

Excellent location walking distance to the wonderful downtown area, beautiful historic property, warm and efficient staff. Loved the restaurant and the veranda especially!

For the price and from the advertising, I expected a nice room in a historic building as pictured in all promo material. What we got was a motel room behind the parking lot, which is behind the historic inn. A rather dated motel room at that. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the motel room was clean and large. But the carpet was old and dingy, the furniture past its prime, the walls thin, and the bathroom clean but cheap looking. Had I known I was getting a motel room, I’d have much preferred to book one of the chain hotels in town. I wanted to stay in a charming inn. That’s far from what we got.

It's not difficult to find the Inn. It's smack on the main square, and the most impressive building in town. I loved the historic feel of the building, in both the lobby and my room. I had a room in the main house, although they also have rooms in newer annexes behind the main building. The room was really large, and had a classic feel with a big old fashioned bed, beautiful wallpaper, a (non-working) fireplace, and a couple of high-backed arm chairs. There were even windows overlooking Court Square. That bed may have looked old fashioned, but was comfy as anything. They have a good bit of free on-site parking around the side of the main building. There is also a restaurant on the ground floor, but unforunately I was there on Monday and they were not open for dinner. The front desk service was small-town friendly and really helpful even though I arrived a bit early for check-in.

Beautiful town and beautiful inn. Friendly people everywhere. Good food choices. I didn’t realize there is an adjunct inn. I might have done better with fewer stairs.

Pillows were cheep, mattresses old.Sheets smelled like chlorine -definitely clean but not ideal if you like smelling bleach while you’re trying to sleep. Room smells like a urinal that they tried to cover the smell with some cleaning product. No hot water. Meals in the tavern take forever and every meal ( dinner & breakfast) was ice cold. Didn’t even ask at check out how our stay was. Positives; Gorgeous historical building, great location. Adorable town. Pleasant staff.
