Hotel Continental

Whenever a hotel is doing major construction, and they dont disclose it until I have already paid a non-refundable room rate, I take at least two stars off their score. Hotel Continental is installing a new elevator, and the noise from the jack hammers was unbearable (from 9am to 5pm). I got the hotel after a difficult day of travel (it is south america). I wanted to take a nap. That was impossible. The construction noise was echoing throughout the entire building. I would not have booked this hotel had I known. I feel like not disclosing this amount of construction is similar to fraud. Hotels are not supposed to be this uncomfortable. And then there's the room: very small, and it smelled like an old gym sock. Very musty. (my room had a small "portable" floor unit air conditioner that I never turned on (I might have helped? I dont know?) The breakfast was below average. Room temp scrambled eggs, basic breads, juices, extra processed ham and "mystery lunch meat". The location was awesome. The wifi worked great. The staff was sympathetic and gracious when I dealt with them (they held my bag safely in their storage closet while I explored Lima). The construction was unbearable.

Everything is great other than the service

Great location, however, we were not informed that our room did not have air conditioning, and it was very hot in Lima. We realized this after we paid our stay. I think this was not right.

I spent one night and it was OK. I wouldn't spend a week, but for a couple of nights it is a good option

Hand towels and hair dryer were not provided

Staff is excellent. Front desk was always pleasant and prompt

good: if you are working near to your work... use only the "superior rooms" very safe hotel and staff honest guys bad: internet terrible is imposible to have hot water in the shower. i was a lot of time in this hotel. no once... i use this hotel because i have my customer two blocks.

The Hotel Continental provides great value in the Centro Historico área of Lima. It offers comfortable rooms, a central and safe downtown location, free wifi, an excellent breakfast (eggs, potatoes, juices, fruits, breads, etc.), and outstanding customer service. I would gladly stay there again. The only negative is there is no air conditioning.
