Barceló Maya Riviera - Adults Only - All Inclusive

My stay at Barcelo Maya Riviera Adults Only was deeply disappointing and, at times, genuinely frightening. During my visit, I was within 10–20 meters of an area where a section of the cement ceiling and beams suddenly collapsed. Hearing and witnessing that impact was terrifying, and it raised serious concerns about the resort’s structural safety. I have photographs documenting the incident, which only reinforce how dangerous the situation was. Unfortunately, the collapse wasn’t the only issue that made this stay unacceptable: Premium package, poor service: Despite paying for the premium level, I waited 45 minutes just to check in. Embarrassing treatment in the lounge: When I politely asked to take a small plate of snacks outside—promising to return the dishes—a staff member refused and instead dumped my food into disposable coffee cups. This gesture felt disrespectful and completely unnecessary. No access to dinner reservations at other resorts, which contradicts what premium guests are led to expect. Constant construction noise: Loud jackhammering and other construction sounds began early in the morning and continued late into the evening, making it impossible to relax. Inconsistent drink quality, even though the food itself was good. I have stayed at many top-tier resorts around the world, and I have never felt so neglected or poorly treated—especially after paying extremely high prices for the hotel stay should have been a high-end experience. Between the unsafe infrastructure, the lack of professionalism, and the overall failure to meet basic service expectations, I cannot recommend this resort to anyone. Until Barcelo addresses these serious safety and service issues, I strongly advise looking elsewherehe management showed no genuine concern, no follow-up, and no acknowledgment of how serious the incident was. My wife and I were traumatized, yet our safety and emotional well-being were treated as an afterthought. When I reached out privately to discuss the incident and request reasonable compensation, I was told there was “no incident that justifies compensation,” a statement that perfectly illustrates the hotel’s dismissive attitude. Their priority seemed to be covering up the damage quickly, not addressing the impact on guests who were nearly injured. This level of disregard for customer safety and concerns is completely unacceptable.

This is a beautiful spot for adults only. The 4 pools are huge, with plenty of room to float around. You can always find something good to eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. For dinner you can go anywhere on the Barceló property with a reservation. We come back every year because we love it here so much! Ask for Martine at breakfast, he’s a wonderful server and a really nice guy.

I’m a club member staying here from October 21-November 11. So far my best experience and as always is from Alberto from the buffet at AO . He’s the best.. best customer service ever. He’s always so attentive. He gets me smoked salmon with capers cause he knows I love them. So far no greeting for my birthday or anything from the club but he even made sure his fellow staff members wished me happy birthday cause he was off on his birthday same as mine. I can’t say enough good things about him. We’ve been coming here for a few years snd it’s sooo nice to see his friendly face. He really is good at his job. Taco bar staff as well Javier, the main attendant there plus all the others working sang happy birthday and made it special for me. Thanks Barcelo .. make sure these people know how much I appreciate them.

My fiancé and I stayed at this resort from April 23 to May 6 while attending the Dr. Joe Dispenza seminar. We looked forward to relaxing for a few days afterward, but unfortunately, our experience was ruined by how the hotel handled a serious situation. On our second day, my fiancé bit into a rock hidden in his salad, breaking his tooth in half. We immediately went to the front desk to report it. The staff member called the manager, who seemed nervous and dismissive. She implied that my fiancé was lying and refused to take responsibility. I speak Spanish, so there was no misunderstanding about what had happened. After almost an hour of back-and-forth, the only help she offered was a couple of Advil pills and a form to sign. The next day, when the pain worsened, we insisted on seeing a doctor at the resort. The doctor was professional and confirmed that his tooth was severely damaged, prescribing medication for the remainder of our stay. Before we left, the general manager met with us, apologized, and promised to file a report with their insurance. He said we’d receive follow-up information. It’s now been over five months, and despite multiple emails and WhatsApp messages, we’ve heard nothing back. My fiancé had to pay $1,000 out of pocket to repair his tooth—even with insurance. This resort showed no accountability, no empathy, and no sense of responsibility for what happened on their property. What started as a dream vacation turned into an extremely disappointing experience filled with disrespect, delays, and broken promises.

Our room was an Oceanview room- very clean, large, and well appointed. The pools were clean, bar service friendly, dining was very good. Buffet was superb! Hibachi was the best I ever had We didn’t do the entertainment- We will be back
