"To be fair, this is an “extended” stay so there are people that are obviously living here long term. The smells of food"

Not much. But the front desk people were very nice and really tried to make our stay enjoyable. It was definitely not their fault.

It felt very dirty. So many people hanging out outside, working on cars in The parking lot.
