Hilton Vacation Club Bayside Resort Panama City Beach

Booked this through Hilton's website. Not one word on the website that the place was under construction, that the place had ZERO restaurants open, that the only coffee you could get was to buy a Starbucks coffee. The a/c didn't work in our room and it was not addressed while we were there. Had to regulate the temp by opening & closing the balcony door! Booked a Bay View room but they tried to give me a parking lot view. Tried to change rooms but they told me I'd have to call reservations which I did. Reservations put me on hold while they called the hotel despite the fact that I was standing in the lobby talking to the person they were calling. Finally got my Bay View room but the electronic key didn't work. Grrr. It is a pretty location but they need to be more open about the amenities and they need to get the restaurant issues straightened out. Very disappointed!

Definitely not my best stay at a Hilton resort property. Plusses on stay: while the restaurant on property was open, it was nice. It was the only one of the 3 restaurants that was open. Food there and entertainment were good. Service was spotty. Rooms were spacious. Enjoyed the giant chess and "connect four" games in the courtyard. Having grills available was also really nice, able to grill one evening instead of going out. Negatives: Almost everything else. Problems at check in, reservation was not correct - was initially given only a single king room when we reserved a double adjoining room so had to get this fixed with front desk staff. Amenities were so-so. Pools were nice but "heated" still felt really cold, it was in the low 70s so pool was only 10 degrees warmer than the air. I am glad I didn't count on the "private beach" in the summer. On a lagoon. Walk down there and it was pretty underwhelming, very small with about 15 chairs, a volleyball net, and a lot of seaweed growth. If you are a golfer and are able to access one of the high end nearby courses might be worth it. We also had a lost item, accidentally left dress shoes in one of the rooms, discovered a few hours after checkout. Not allowed back in room. Were told to fill out a form and see if they can be retrieved. Somehow they were never found - odd because certain they were in the room before it was cleaned. Finally and most annoying, my youngest son had spider bites all over his feet 2 days into the stay in an adjoining room. We asked to have new linens, instead ended up changing rooms for the final day of our reservation. We booked the room with points and were told that we would be refunded some points to our account. None of this happened. So in short we are out a nice pair of shoes, had an overall mediocre stay (except the restaurant) and ended up moving rooms without compensation. Not up to standards I am used to from Hilton properties. Won't stay there again.

First time visit to this resort. On a golf course if you like golf. Nice views of the bay. Long walk across the piers to the “private beach” area. But busy boat traffic at the beach and smell of gasoline/fumes from boats so we preferred going over to Saint Andrew’s State Park to the beach. Nice rooms. We enjoyed the bike rentals and mini golf. We took a sunset catamaran boat one evening which was the highlight of our trip! Downsides: Check in staff seemed to not know what they were doing. We had our reservation number/email printed out, they had trouble “finding” our reservation and thought it was for The Fountains…took a LONG time of waiting in the lobby before we were able to check in. Our room upon entering a window in the living room had been broken by what looked like a golf ball. TV didn’t work and the sliding door in kids room wouldn’t lock. So maintenance came to fix, except the broken window since it was just the outer glass (we were on 4th floor). Housekeeping staff was hard to find. They left a cart unattended for days by our room, so we were able to get toilet paper, etc when needed. Stay was nice, but I’m not sure we would return mostly because it’s not at the beach and need to drive to get anywhere.

Overall not very convenient - location was more out do the way than expected. And the little store was extremely limited on hours that it was open. And then the one time we did go to the store they had machines down so I was unable to get a hot beverage in the morning. Not what I expected for a “resort”

Nice place off the beaten path. Quiet

It is not a hotel but a ownership type place.

The Resort was really nice and clean. Enjoyable staff that always had smiles on there faces.

My 2 biggest issues was the balcony was so small you could barely move with 2 people on it. The second thing was parents allowing there children the play in the hottub. Tried using it once till he kids came playing in it so we left.

Beautiful resort and friendly staff! t's pretty secluded and not in walking distance of restaurants and stores. Either rent or drive a vehicle or be prepared for the expense of Doordashing or the on-site restaurants.
