"Not worth the money"

6.0

Rented this room from Vrbo.. got a room on the second floor, the resort itself isn’t kept up well. Staff isn’t very friendly in the resort and the rooms are decent. Only two sets of washers and dryers on the lobby floor, when there are 17 floors. I’ve machine charges for ice and literally gives you a few ice cubes.. the best part about our trip was the beach and the beach chairs and umbrellas provided by the owners we were renting from. The beachside staff were really nice but that was the only good thing about this resort. The beach is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and clean.. Will definitely not be back to this resort and isn’t worth the $2800 we spent for one week..

"everything was great, except the room"

2.0

(we stayed at one of the little villas around a pond near the "resort") room wasnt even cleaned when we got here. half the lights were burned out or didn't work, images on the site looked nothing like the room. pond was dirty and reeked the room, drippy sinks, the shower head was extremely gritty, paint peeling everywhere. chairs and couches were dirty and were covered by a sheet to hide it. weird brown-black substance in one of the bathtubs. possible mold in air conditioner and all over the balcony, some of the legs on the bed were replaced by brick. there were some untouched, clean parts of the room at least, our room was obviously the only one that wasn't maintained, we had to stay there because they didnt allow us to refund our money.

"Great location, terrible communication, filthy unit"

6.0

As far as location goes, it was great… directly on the beach; walking distance to lots of restaurants, shopping, grocery so we were able to park the truck for the week and close to rentals if you want to get a scooter or golf cart for the day. Day of arrival was told we’d get an email with check-in info. Arrived at 4:00 PM, still no email called the 1-800 number twice then finally got check-in information after 5:30. Was told there would be an info packet in the room for amenities, nothing in it except brochures and a map and only 2 of our 8 wrist bands that are needed for surfside’s gym, court, beach, pools, etc… then came the fiasco with beach chairs…. I just want to enjoy the beach!!! We kept getting moved from section of beach to different sections of beach being told the owners of our condo have chairs with the next group… called the 1-800 number again only to be told to come to the conference center to pick up my beach chair pass (that was also supposed to be left in the room). So I left my family on the beach to walk to the conference center to pick up a pass for beach chairs!!! Spent over 2-hrs dealing with this!!! Ridiculous… Unit was dirty, carpet stained and filthy, dresser drawers not useable because of sticky mess inside… beds were comfortable except the nasty green pull out sofa… also dirty and linens in there full of sand we found out on first night when we have been to beach yet… had to wash all the pull out sofa linens the night we arrived before they were even usable… Glad to spend time with family on a beautiful beach, most everyone we encountered were extremely nice but we won’t be staying at surfside again.

"Do Not stay here!"

2.0

This is our first day here and we will NOT come back. You are not allowed to sit in the water with your chairs due to owners getting priority of the beach in front of their chairs. We are allowed on the second row and on the back. I didn’t know owners owned the beach as well 🤷🏻‍♀️

"Great stay!"

8.0

We stayed at Millie's condo with luv it at the beach! We had a great time! Parking is not the best for oversized vehicles but they do have plenty of parking for most. Curtis the beach attendant was great and always helped us out everytime we came down from the condo. He would update us with better chair options and helped take care of us when we wanted to rent a kayak. Bon fires on Monday and Friday nights! I was a little disappointed the pool tiki bar was not open but am I really going to complain.... I was at da beach mon!!!

"Great view, cleanliness not so much..."

4.0

This was a subpar stay for my family and I. We spent one night in unit 1503. Our view was amazing and totally worth the premium price! However, with the exorbitant price and the crazy cleaning fees I expect an immaculate unit. I can deal with older decor and furniture, but I cannot abide by filthy floors! We had to wear our sandals or socks because our feet stuck to the tile and were dirty black and sandy. We did not track this in with us, as we drove 6 hours from Louisiana and didn’t arrive until 9:00 pm! There were sticky food and beverage stains and dirty spots, hairs that weren’t ours in corners of all the rooms in our unit, there was food crumbs in our shower, it did not look like our towels were switched out- they had hair on them that wasn’t ours and wrinkles like they were previously used, our master bedroom pillow cases had the dirt and face oils from the previous occupants. It was pretty gross! Not many people wore masks or social distances despite the face masks required signs. The PROS: The VIEW was STUNNING!! The beds were comfortable, but I recommend bringing your own pillows, bedding, and towels. Fully stocked kitchen- wash everything first before using. So great location, comfy beds in an aged building, with dirty old furniture and filthy floors. We choose to focus on the great location and views, but just wanted people to NOT expect cleanliness as a priority.

"Unsafe! Stay Away!"

2.0

My family has visited the Surfside resort in Destin Florida about once each year since 1990 and enjoyed each visit. Great views, nice heated pool and hot tubs, and a walk way to the beach (over a busy road way) However, our visit Feb 13-16, 2021 caused me to fear for our health and left me very frustrated. We stayed in room 502 Feb. 13-16, 2021 and always wore masks when outside our condo except on the beach when there were few people. The room was nice but the view was a bit diminished by power lines. Our main issue was with the building contractors and staff. To start, when I was unloading after we arrived, a security guard without a mask came to my car door. In a rude manner he demanded to know why I was there. I had a parking pass and explained I was taking luggage to my condo. He told me I could not park where I was but parking is tight at the resort due to construction. I explained I parked by the dumpster so I did not block other cars and to leave room for others closer to the door. He said gruffly “okay, you have 2 minutes to unload and move your car” I went as fast as I could and took about 20 min. Also, there is a sign on the temporary entrance most people use stating clearly that “masks required of all vendors and delivery personnel”. None of the contractors coming in and out of the same entrance most convenient for us to use (due to construction) wore masks. I pointed this out to Scott at the front desk explaining that contractors are not obeying the sign. He said “there is no sign like that” and that they can’t require contractors to wear masks. He said the Surfside HOA decided they will not require people in the building’s public spaces to wear masks. Contractors without masks cause me to fear for my families health and we did our best to avoid them. Finally, the beach bar is completely disgusting. If you use the walk way over the road you must pass through the bar to reach the beach. There are lots of smokers there and no one wears a mask. We held our breath as we passed through and normally went way out of our way to use the temporary entrance (contractors and employees with no masks) walk down an alley and across a busy road to reach the beach. It is as if COVID 19 does not exist as far as Surfside HOA, Surfside employees and contractors are concerned. In summary, the 502 unit is nice with the view reduced a bit by the power lines. The no masking attitude is very upsetting to my wife and I . As I mentioned, we have stayed at the Surfside almost every year since 1990. Due to this experience we will not return any time soon; perhaps never again. We don’t mind paying top dollar at the beach for beach front view. However, we will not stay at a resort where the HOA, employees, and contractors put our lives at risk and employees/ contractors are repeatedly rude, unresponsive, and uncaring. I strongly advise anyone that takes COVID-19 seriously and cares about good service to stay far away from the Surfside. LOTS of other properties near by to choose from.

"Terrible!"

2.0

Would never stay here again. Room was absolutely disgusting, I had to clean everything when I arrived after driving 6 hours there. The pool area was not impressive. Air condition barely worked so we were sweating while trying to sleep. Never again. Way too expensive for the quality!

"Condo was fine; building not so much"

8.0

I enjoyed my stay at the condo, and I would stay here again. There was nothing wrong with anything in the room. It was very clean and well-maintained. It was stocked with basics like soap, shampoo, dish detergent, and laundry detergent. It was a nice room. It was maybe a teeny, tiny bit outdated but *nothing* to complain about whatsoever. The refrigerator had a water dispenser so I saved on bringing plastic water bottles to the beach which was nice. I was a little disappointed there was no washer and dryer, but it was no big deal overall. The building itself could use some major updates. The lobby and common areas are in serious need of renovation. It was old and musty. We spoke with a Vacassa representative named Beverly and she was absolutely wonderful and helpful in every way possible. Thanks so much, Beverly!!! I would stay here again, just depending on the price.

"Good location..."

6.0

The condo we rented (1008) was nicely appointed, the elevators were super quick, the staff very friendly, ample parking in the garage which was nice to get into a car that was in the shade versus one in the outside parking lot, however the lobby, laundry area, furniture and hallways reminded me of a 80's college dorm. I was mildly confused why there was a coded gate to get to the beach AND a security guard standing at the gate. There is access to the beach via a bridge from the resort that goes over the boulevard which was nice if you were not carrying very much but you definitely needed to use the gated entrance if you looked like the Beverly Hillbillies going to the beach. The bridge entrance is easily 4 flights of stairs to the beach, but you do pass through a very convenient bar! Prices weren't horrible given the fact that its ON THE BEACH! Win, Win!! Miramar itself is not a bad little community, kinda quiet but within short driving distance to plenty of shops and restaurants.
