La Jolla Cove Suites

The location was great. The staff was kind. Bed was comfortable. And the view from the rooftop was great.

The door let in a lot of light. You could hear everyone in the halls if they even just spoke. I knew about the construction going into it, but it still would have been nice to at least sleep in till 8am on a vacation.

The construction made everything really hard to access and the view was not amazing. They had a wedding and the nois was terrible. More that the people on top of us kept fighting.

To Management, We have now been waiting over an hour just to valet our car. Since guests are required to use valet and no reasonable self-parking option exists, this delay is completely unacceptable. We were told valet is backed up because of a wedding. While we understand the hotel is hosting an event, that is not an excuse for inadequate staffing. Management should have planned accordingly and ensured enough attendants were available to accommodate both wedding guests and hotel guests. This has been a frustrating start to our stay and falls well below the level of service we expected. At a minimum, I believe our valet charges should be fully waived given the inconvenience and excessive wait time. Would move hotels right now if I could Get a refund.

Location was amazing. Lots to see in walking distance and far less traffic than expected, probably because we went in mid May.

Super loud construction going on, large part of hotel being renovated and huge backhoe-mounted jackhammers all day long. I told the front desk folks they need to wear hearing protection. Good news is it stops in the evening starts again about 7:00 AM. You can hear the jackhammering 3 blocks away. If you’ll be there in daytime hours I would not recommend. Supposed to be finished in about 2027.

The hotel is conveniently located in a bustling area. We chose an ocean view room, and the view is truly breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and well-maintained, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There are numerous shops within walking distance, and there are plenty of activities to do at the hotel itself. I would say that renting a car is not necessary unless you have specific places to be or want to explore the area.

Website does not match reality. While the room was nicely decorated, there is construction on-going, the pool has motel appeal (no bar, no attendant), thin partition like walls in the rooms, and when asked to offer something special for our room to celebrate our 25th anniversary (which we would have gladly paid), our request was ignored.
