Favorite place to stay in Vail. The best spa services and restaurant inside the hotel. Love the pool area by the river. Rooms are always comfortable and clean.

Great hotel for business meeting. Room, F&B, conference facilities - all great. Recommend to anyone planning a meeting in Colorado.

We have stayed at the Sonnenalp many many tomes (we are what they call Gold Level). However, the loss of their dedicated Gold member support person (she retired), and the lack of replacement, makes it feel like we are just another guest waiting in queue that ne er gets responded to. We had tried to book one of our favorite mountain/creek view rooms, but were told they were all taken, but they gave us a room that they said had been completely remodeled (it was a room we had stayed in a few years ago, and didn’t like because of the lack of any view). So when we checked in, we found it really hadn’t been remodeled and still didn’t have a view. I asked if there was anything else available, but was told by the front desk that I would have to wait until the next day because the reservation people had all gone home (really…this was around 3:30 pm). I then called the manager on duty, and she said she couldn’t see available rooms, she could only book rooms. I asked her to pretend she was booking us a room and to let me know if they had any mountain/creek view that we could move to (we were more than willing to pay for a 2 bedroom suite if that was what they had)..she told me there wasn’t. This was after being cut off multiple times by being transferred back and forth to her and the front desk. Finally, about an hour and a half later (and serious consideration on our part to move to the Ritz in Beaver Creek), the front desk called and magically, they had a room available, and they gave it to us as a complimentary upgrade (which was nice and unexpected)…but I don’t understand how it can take 2 hours to figure out as front desk people, you actually do have the ability to know if rooms are available or not! They also brought us a complimentary bottle of red wine when we checked in, but I reminded them my record indicates I am allergic to red, so they said they would bring white (it would have been lovely after the flight and drive from Denver to have a glass of wine)…the wine never came. I called a couple of times, and they said they would bring white, but never did until I called again, but by then, we had to leave for our dinner reservations. Additionally, the wifi needed a password, which they said they would send someone up to take a look at (my husband connected once without needing a password)…they never sent anyone and nobody ever called. We finally figured out we could use the iOS password sharing feature, but we had to do that constantly because the wifi would disconnect when we weren’t using the devices, and it always wanted a password to get back in (he’s, we had the right domain). Bottom line, we will continue to stay at the Sonnenalp, but I sure hope you get a better handle on supporting your gold customers now that Judy has retired.

Visiting in September allowed us to see the colors begin to change! The Sonnenalp staff goes above & beyond to meet your needs! We had never been the Vail and did have questions about directions, locations, transportation, etc! The concierge was amazing in not only providing guidance but also making arrangements to make our stay so much more enjoyable! We hiked, rode the gondola, shopped, ate at so many of the area restaurants so easily accessible by walking, visited Ford Park, went horseback riding at Vail Stables, and more! So much to do—our 4- night stay was perfect, but we can’t wait to return in the winter. The housekeeping staff was so attentive! Our room always smelled so clean! Honestly, the entire property looked and smelled clean and fresh! The restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner were so good—staff was engaging and great to talk with as well. I must admit, when making our initial decision to book we were deciding between the Sonnenalp & another very high-end, well known property. We consistently said how happy we were that we chose the Sonnenalp!! Can’t wait to return!!!

Rooms are huge. It was central to everything. Made our trip easier with the kids and enjoyed the whole stay. The concierge/s during Labor Day weekend was also very helpful in getting us last minute reservation for the onsite restaurant we wanted to try on a last minute trip. With so much space the kids thought it was a house!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Sonnenalp. It was our first trip to Vail, and we definitely plan on returning and staying there again. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The amenities are excellent, and the staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. Highly recommended!

Amazing! Will return!

I don't write reviews often but need to for this trip. The accommodations and food were fantastic. We were lucky enough to be able to do the 2-bedroom room for our family, and it was so spacious. The staff went above and beyond to help us. The concierge helped us get bags delivered when the airport was not going to have them arrive in time for the wedding we were attending. And when my son announced to one of the staff that it was his birthday, she arranged to have cake and balloons sent to our room. Really cannot thank them enough for their support.

We organize a conference at the hotel for one week each September. The service we continue to receive is outstanding. We are very grateful to all staff members for their professionalism and attention to detail. The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly maintained. We are grateful to the Sonnenalp staff for providing such a wonderful experience and hospitality.
