Sonnenalp is such a wonderful place to stay. The staff is amazing, and the facilities are so nice. It is very much appreciated when folks get to know your name and you feel welcomed to be there. We look forward to going back and will only look at the Sonnenalp for our stay!

An attempt at a Swiss style hotel but without Swiss efficiency. In October, they have clearly decided it is off season but keep the hotel open - it feel that way. Positives - good breakfast albeit choice a bit patchy; room and housekeeping reasonable. Concierge good but closes at 3.30pm Negative - Arrived at hotel to find work going on around entrance with dust sheets and lack of clarity on whether it was operation. On checking in, staff didn’t appear to know anything about hotel or certainly didn’t share it with me. I enquired about a parcel of some air buds I had left at a previous location. Staff denied all knowledge and when I should them the location that ‘find my device’ showed was just behind the hotel, they said they didn’t know where that was. After much detective work including visiting the address, I found out it was in their receiving bay but no post was being distributed as short staffed. Went to their cafe at 3.30pm and despite closing time being 4pm, was told I could only have a takeaway drink. Rarely anyone on reception during stay. On departure was charged an extra $250 in error for a phantom meal in their restaurant - didn’t find out until after we left as didn’t show the itemised bill before charging my card. This was an unimpressive stay in supposedly high end hotel. Either stay open properly inc trained and available staff or close for off season.

Absolutely the best hotel. Everyone was so easy to work with, you go out of your way to make us happy. Everyone greets you, has a smile on their face. The facilities are excellent. The pool and hot tubs are wonderful. Love the fitness center. Rooms are special and you cannot beat the bathroom. Oversized tub for two, double sinks, walk in shower and separate toilet.

We cherish our visits at the Sonnenalp. We have been staying there since the lodge was built forty years ago. The ambiance is refined, the setting gorgeous, the service excellent and the food is great. We highly recommend it.

I just had my wedding at the Sonnenalp this last weekend. I have always been smitten with this hotel but the way they surpassed my expectations over these last nine months of planning as well as the weekend itself has permanently embedded this place in my heart. From top to bottom, the staff was exceptional. Helpful, friendly, professional, and warm. The facilities are always top notch while remaining true to the original charm of the place. They worked hard to accommodate my wedding wishlist and the execution of the event was exceptional. I am so so very grateful.

We have now stayed at Sonnenalp three times, and each visit has been consistently exceptional. What sets this hotel apart is not just its setting, but the extraordinary team of people who ensure that every stay is memorable. From the moment we arrive, the valet staff greet us with warmth and efficiency, making parking effortless and stress-free. At a later time we enjoyed our relaxed conversation with Donny who also is an avid hiker. The front desk staff, especially Kamar and Marei are welcoming, always with a smile, always professional, and always attentive to every detail—whether it’s remembering our preferences or offering thoughtful recommendations with a genuine desire to offer assistance. Housekeeping deserves special recognition as well. Our room has always been spotless, refreshed with care, and maintained at the highest standard. The attention to detail, from perfectly made beds to immaculate bathrooms, speaks volumes about the pride they take in their work. Breakfast each morning has been another highlight. The servers are unfailingly kind, attentive and always ready with a smile that brightens the day. The quality of the food is matched by the quality of the service. Smara, always with a warm welcome and friendly smile, suggested the trail to Booth Falls when we mentioned we would be hiking during our stay in Vail. The hike was amazing and exceeded our expectations. After three stays, we can confidently say this hotel has mastered the art of luxury hospitality. Every member of the staff—housekeeping, front desk, breakfast servers, and valet—contributes to an experience that is polished, personal, and memorable. We look forward to returning because we know we will be met with the same outstanding level of care and excellence. This team defines hospitality as being more like a homecoming than a hotel visit.

Great suites and spa area is the best in vail.

We've visited this wonderful hotel on numerous occasions. It's a great hotel in the middle of Vail with excellent service and staff. It is close to everything. Highly recommend.
