Comfort Suites Dulles Airport

All the rooms are in the process of being renovated. Ours hadn't been done yet but it was nice and comfortable. Shuttle to/from airport and breakfast were key reasons for stay. Breakfast was okay, coffee was very good. Staff was very friendly. After a long day of traveling, it was nice to have a calm reassuring voice on the phone when I called for the shuttle (Paula). Ate at Backyard Grill and Chateau de Chantilly which were very good and short walks.

Wish the pool was open. Since it was indoors, I expected it to be open but it was closed as part of their reservations. Due to the government shutdown, our plans were canceled, would have been nice to sit by the pool to relax.

We stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to the Air and Space museum at Dulles. It could not have been more convenient, and fairly close to a great number of restaurant options. Our 'suite' adequate in size, bed comfortable, AC quiet. Parking was adequate and fairly well lit. Breakfast was the basic, adequate provisions of some pastries, cereals, eggs, sausage, and waffles. While the staff was polite, the checkout time etched in brass on the door was 12 noon, but they started bothering us, apologetically at 11. The fridge was a terrible disappointment, not only in meager size, but in the fact that it didn't really work; apparently they were aware of this and had a company-line excuse that this wasn't a fridge like 'in your house'. They did graciously offer us a different room with a fridge that perhaps would be better, for the same price, but no, I didn't want to trade my suite for double beds. In this hotel, as with perhaps 1/3 of Choice hotels, they are invested in sickly blue-white (4000k) lighting throughout, as a constant reminder that your aren't supposed to feel that much at home. (residential lighting is warm 2700k to 3000k) Otherwise, the facility, well maintained but clearly showing some signs of age (some serious signs actually, was fine, and I would definitely stay again, but perhaps with my own cooler.

A ten-minute free shuttle from Dulles, this Choice hotel in Chantilly was an easy spot to bunk for a quick overnight stay before heading off to the Shenandoah valley. Arriving after 10 p.m., we were glad to find a few options still open to grab a bite at the adjacent shopping– Korean, Japanese, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine plus a French bakery/coffee shop with amazing pastries. Clean, spacious rooms and breakfast were standard for Choice Hotels. Our pick up shuttle driver from the airport was preoccupied on his phone talking to girlfriend. However, Tony, our morning shuttle driver who took us back to the airport to pick up a rental car, was ready and waiting for us at our appointed shuttle time and used a much shorter route back to the airport. Overall, the Comfort Suites are highly recommended for an easy airport layover.

I appreciate the breakfast options, and the proximity to the airport, the only suggestions I would make would be to please upgrade your carpets (the first one I was booked into was wet and smelt moldy near the AC unit). The concierge did change me to a better room (thank you). The second suggestion I would make is to have shuttle to IAD be 24 hours a day. I booked the hotel specifically due to the airport shuttle service, only to find out it was only 9am-9pm (my flight was at 7am and I had to get an Uber to the airport). Update your carpets and shuttle services, please. Thank you.

The hotel is currently undergoing major renovations, starting with the parking lot. Management mentioned that interior work will begin once the outside is complete. While the improvements are much needed, guests should be made more aware of the ongoing construction since it does impact the overall experience. That said, I believe once the renovations are finished, this hotel has the potential to be a great place to stay again.
