The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection

Located outside of Kyoto but within walking distance of subway. Room was spacious and extremely clean. The staff very friendly and the breakfast buffet was very good.

We - family of 3 - stayed here in early April 2015. Since we booked a bit late, we could not get any hotels in Kyoto City Center and had to choose Grand Prince. The Hotel is about 30 min by subway (the subway station is a 10 min walk from the Hotel), and hence not ideal for tourists. A tip: the Hotel has a Welcome Desk at Kyoto Railway Station (on South Side) where you can leave your luggage when you arrive, and they will deliver to Hotel - allows you to take the subway and save on taxi fare (about ¥ 4,000 one-way for taxi, and just ¥ 290 per head for subway). Similarly, on check-out, you can ask them to send luggage to Kyoto Station, especially if you have a later flight. The hotel did not inform these options - even on check-out - and we accidentally found this out. Overall, I would give average rating.

Hotel good. But location not too nice. Subway close by , but still can't stroll out of hotel. Must take subway train or can.

Clean & spacious rooms, easy transport and beautiful set up around the hotel including the garden, waterfall, etc!

We had other accomodations that did not meet our needs, so I jumped on Hotels.com and found the Grand Prince Hotel for a great price, close by Seika University, where our daughter was studying. I was pleasantly suprised: the room was spacious and designed for international guests, especially the bathroom. The hotel staff was extremely accomodating. One of the staff even reheated some of our left overs as our room did not have a microwave. The breakfast buffet was well labeled with pictograms for guests with allergies. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a stay in North Kyoto. Another benefit is its close proximity to the subway.

The Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto is out of the way on the outskirts of Kyoto. Restaurants in the hotel are very expensive and require reservations as we found out the hard way! We had to catch a train at 06:23 and the hotel did not help us get a cab due to snow the day before. The hotel sent us to the near by subway at 05:00 dragging our luggage through one foot deep snow. The closest entrance to the subway was locked at that time in the morning causing us to drag luggage another 2 blocks to another entrance. This hotel non-service is unacceptable and we would not recommend this hotel to future travellers.

I stayed there for six nights. The staff was courteous and helpful.

I participated in a conference last week at the ICC, Kyoto. This hotel is located at a 2 minute walking distance from the ICC, just across the street. My main consideration while booking this hotel had been this reason. When I reached the hotel, I was struck by its extraordinary ambience, the quiet neighborhood, the excellent staff and food facilities, besides the fact that it is actually very well connected to the Kyoto downtown and the Kyoto station through the subway (Karusima line). Ask for a mountain facing room, is available. It ensures that you have an excellent view of the morning sunrise over the hills every morning! Wonderful view! The Christmas tree in the centre of the courtyard, and the soft music in the corridors the moment you stepped outside the room added a sense of comfort.

I attended a conference across the road from this hotel, so proximity was great. The food, especially breakfast which was included in our rate was exceptional. Staff were were helpful and friendly. The room was very spacious and clean. The gardens were magnificent. I will be back here one day.

Super hotel but out of town. Even as single female felt safe travelling on subway so not really a problem.
