Carambola Beach Resort St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

This resort is closing due to purchase by Club Med for a complete revitalization which is needed. The staff, facing unemployment in just days served us with kindness, big smiles and we want to share their names; Monique and Mia our servers, Donna the one who always greeted us with a dance and a smile!, Anne - creator of wonderful omelets and French toast to order! Chef Isaac and other kitchen and restaurant staff Collin, Shinike, and Leai! Their servant hearts in the face of job loss was admirable! I hope the new owners will give them an opportunity to serve at this historic resort in its new iteration. Thanks for making our time in St. Croix memorable.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Carambola Resort. The property was beautiful, relaxing, and the overall atmosphere made our trip very memorable. The staff was welcoming and always willing to help throughout our stay. A special thank you to Evely, who was an amazing waitress during my stay. She was very attentive, friendly, and always made sure we had everything we needed. Her helpful attitude and excellent service really stood out and made our experience even better. We look forward to coming back again!

The scenery

Dead ants and wings all over bed and flooring. No water on May 17th around 1 am. Daughter wasn’t able to take a shower after her prom.

Location was far enough away from major places away from tourists. Fairly quiet at night. Some of the staff was nice others not so much.

Hotel is dated, cracks in the floor by the pool, long wait times for food at times, no towels most of the time to use in the pool area, no telephone in my room as well as no door on the bathroom door.

This place has been heaven. I was skeptical seeing some recent reviews but it has so far exceeded my expectations. Want a tropical getaway? This is your place. It's a collection of bungalows in the middle of the rainforest right on the beach. The scenery is unmatched. The grounds are just lush and lovely. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The food was good! Resort food can be pretty terrible but there were a lot of really delicious options here. Things I loved: -wide list of cocktails with local spirits and good beer and wine list. -Beautiful pool area (water was crystal clear) with plentiful lounge chairs and cabanas. -Both restaurants face the sunset over the ocean -plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas, single row so no one blocks your view. Some are even in the tree line with all day shade. -snorkeling and diving on site, right off the beach, including gear rental and lessons if needed. -it feels like a tropical hideaway. I don't come to the Caribbean for sterile, I come for weathered wood, sand, and sun, and this place has all of that. -rooms are spacious with private balconies facing the ocean. Huge shower with good water pressure, huge closet with lots of hangers for drying wet swimsuits. Everything about my 4 days here has been magic. I didn't have a car, I just enjoyed the weather and the beach and the ambiance.
