Hotel Riu Palace Tropical Bay - All Inclusive

Everything. This property is on a beautiful beach. The ocean water was clear with a beautiful soft sand with no seaweed or green moss. The resort was beautifully kept and maintained. Our hotel room was spacious, clean and looked newly renovated. The staff was amazing - very kind, friendly, happy and always helpful - though no help really needed for anything. The food was amazing - great variety. The Jerk Hut on the beach for lunchtime was super delicious. We absolutely loved it here.

It was a warm and friendly atmosphere so great for relaxing and recharging. The staff was wonderful throughout the whole resort. I will definitely come back soon.

The only thinks I can think of is no elevators and, also, the lighting in the bathroom is terrible for putting on makeup and checking final look. The TV did not work the whole time. We did call the repair person but I think it was the wifi.

Pros (The Absolute Highlights): ​The Beach & Sunsets (Absolute Perfection): Paradise-like sea conditions. Zero waves, no rocks, and completely free of sargassum (seaweed). The pristine water and stunning sunsets alone justify the entire trip. ​Atmosphere (The Plus): A remarkably quiet and relaxing family environment. No crowds. There is no stressful early-morning rush to reserve sun loungers; space is always guaranteed. ​Activities: Great access to non-motorized water sports, including paddleboarde and kayak. ​Dining (Buffet): The main buffet is very decent, offering reliable options. ​Cons (Critical Logistics to Consider): ​Room Layout (Alert for Families): Connecting rooms DO NOT EXIST here. If you are traveling with teenage children, you will be placed in separate rooms. ​Accessibility: There are no elevators, and the residential buildings are 3 stories high. Keep this in mind for luggage. ​Facilities & Dining: The hotel infrastructure is not the newest, and the swimming pools are small. The à la carte restaurants are very average. ​Location & Service: Be prepared for a 2-hour drive from the MB airport. General service is just "OK". ​Verdict: Despite not the newest facilities, lack of elevators, and room separation for families, the flawless, crowd-free beach and genuinely peaceful vibe make it a solid choice. We would definitely return.

This was our second year in a row at this resort and our fifth stay on Bloody Bay. It continues to impress—not just because of its location and price point, but because of the outstanding staff and service. The resort sits right in the middle of Bloody Bay, with two other properties on each side. Our room service was excellent. We always left a few dollars, along with candy, chocolate, and some crayons and pencils for the kids, and every morning the room was spotless. The fridge was always fully stocked with plenty of water. Navaro and Richard (among others) made our days on the beach even better—they remembered us from last year, which speaks volumes about the level of service. The buffet servers were consistently wonderful, and the concierge and front desk staff were just as impressive. Daytime and evening entertainment was fantastic. Advance remembered us from last year as well—he’s an incredible entertainer. The Silver Birds performed on our last night and, as always, did not disappoint. We’re already planning our next visit for 2027. We’ll likely aim for mid‑ to late April, as this trip in March felt a bit busy—possibly due to Spring Break. One suggestion for improvement would be the dinner reservation system. Since bookings could only be made 48 hours in advance, arriving on a Sunday meant we weren’t able to get into an à la carte restaurant until Wednesday onward.

We went here for my 65th birthday last week. Grounds are nice, staff were very accommodating, and maintenance was quick. There is only one group of bathrooms at the front of the resort. If you’re at one of the pools, restaurants, or bars it was this or a walk to your room. Front desk was told about the birthday when we made the reservation. Nothing happened. Restaurants were ok if you got lucky and made a reservation. Many people made reservations and didn’t show up. Pool / beach chairs were the same. People put their towels on them and barely touched them. Jerk house for lunch every day. They ran out of lobster on the 25th.
