Restaurant feels spacious and food cooked well, rooms also good standard for price

We liked the size of the room, we liked the look of the hotel, the kids loved the bunk beds, we liked the food both evening and morning, we liked the pool setup and parking was easy.

Room was dated in terms of decor and no air con so was very stuffy as it was underground.

Nice looking hotel. The room wasn't the cleanest, had stains on the couch and curtains. We also had a broken gutter above our room, dripping all night, and the pillows were way too big. Powerful shower in the room, which was good, and the room was very big. The spa facilities were decent; however, the massage was very weak. The shower in the massage room was broken and needs sorting. Breakfast was chaos, no organisation at all. There was hardly any food, and the coffee machine wasn't working. The table had dirty cutlery on it and no mugs to make a coffee.

The sauna and steam room were both decent. My scalp, neck and shoulder massage was wonderful and the therapist was flexible and accommodating with booking. Breakfast had a great selection and they sourced vegetarian sausages for me, which was a really nice touch. The room was clean and comfortable and parking was easy. The hotel deserves real credit for its inclusive touches for all types of guest.

Things to be aware of: Staffing felt unbalanced during our stay? There were several young staff members in the spa area who appeared to have little to do (yet no lifeguard) which seemed like an oversight. Meanwhile reception was often left with just one person, and restaurant service was slow with noticeable waits — we appreciated this may have been partly due to a large group event taking place, but it did affect the experience for regular guests. We weren't shown around on arrival or offered a welcome drink, which other spa hotels tend to do as standard. When we needed extra towels we tried calling from our room but none of the listed extensions answered, which was frustrating. Robes and slippers are only provided if you're booking a treatment — not included with spa access alone, which felt unnecessarily restrictive and isn't something we've encountered at comparable hotels. The pool area doesn't feel like a traditional spa environment — it's bright, busy and open to the public including children's swimming classes, which on a weekend made it quite hectic. Adding to this, the gyms surrounding the pool area play loud music with disco lighting, which is clearly visible and audible from the pool ...completely at odds with a relaxing spa atmosphere. The hot tub is much smaller than suggested and struggles to comfortably fit more than two adults. The relaxation room in the treatment area is only accessible to guests having treatments, which felt restrictive if visiting as a pair with only one having treatment. Both coffee machines were broken across the weekend causing long queues at breakfast. Air conditioning isn't available (just a ceiling fan) worth knowing if visiting in warmer months.
